Altera Expands DDR5 Memory Support Across Agilex FPGA Portfolio

Broad DDR5, LPDDR5 and LPDDR5X-compatible memory support gives developers more bandwidth, greater flexibility and improved supply resilience

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Altera, the world's largest independent FPGA solutions provider, today announced expanded DDR5 memory support across its Agilex® FPGA portfolio with the release of Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 26.1.1. The update adds new DDR5, LPDDR5 and LPDDR5X-compatible memory capabilities to more Agilex FPGAs, enabling developers to build higher-performance AI, networking and embedded systems with greater flexibility to optimize bandwidth, power, board space and component availability.

Delivering More Memory Performance Across the Agilex Portfolio

Quartus Prime Pro Edition 2026.1.1 enables DDR5-6400 and LPDDR5-6400 support on Agilex7 M-Series devices, delivering higher memory bandwidth for demanding AI, networking, and embedded applications. Together with new LPDDR5 support in Agilex 3 devices and existing DDR5 and LPDDR5 support in Agilex 5 devices, these capabilities help customers optimize performance, power, board space, and long-term component availability across the Agilex portfolio.

The release also adds documented LPDDR5X device compatibility in LPDDR5-compatible mode for supported Agilex 5 and Agilex 3 devices. LPDDR5X compatibility gives customers additional qualified memory sourcing options, helping to improve supply chain optionality without requiring hardware redesigns by maintaining compatibility with existing LPDDR5 implementations.

  • Higher performance with DDR5 and LPDDR5 support up to 6400 MT/s, delivering up to 204.8 GB/s of aggregate memory bandwidth in supported Agilex 7 M-Series configurations.

  • Improved supply resilience through expanded qualified memory options that simplify component sourcing and lifecycle planning.

Available today, Quartus Prime Pro Edition Software version 26.1.1 expands support for DDR5-6400, LPDDR5-6400, and LPDDR5X-compatible devices across the Agilex portfolio. Developers can download the latest Quartus release to take advantage of these new memory capabilities.
