Humana Community Day 2026 Mobilizes Thousands of Employees Nationwide to Support Healthier Communities

Annual volunteer day brings thousands of employees together across U.S. markets to improve community health through local partnerships and service.

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) today announced Humana Community Day 2026, its annual nationwide day of service taking place Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, mobilizing thousands of employees to volunteer in communities across the United States.

Humana Community Day is a company-wide volunteer initiative focused on improving community health by addressing local needs such as food insecurity, neighborhood revitalization and social connection. In 2026, enterprise-driven activities will take place in Louisville, Kentucky; Central and South Florida; San Antonio, Texas; and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in partnership with local nonprofit organizations. Employees are also encouraged to host their own volunteer activity with local teammates, or participate in a host of virtual volunteer opportunities, if they reside outside of these focus markets.

“Humana Community Day is our purpose in action—helping people achieve their best health,” said Jim Rechtin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Humana. “When our teammates come together to serve, we strengthen communities and make it easier for people to access support where they live.”

Building on growing nationwide impact

Humana Community Day continues to expand its national reach and impact through employee volunteerism. Collectively in 2025, more than 12,000 Humana employees participated in 220 volunteer events across 27 states and Puerto Rico.

Building on this momentum, the 2026 event will once again connect thousands of associates with local organizations to deliver meaningful, community-based support.

Advancing community health through local action

Humana Community Day focuses on improving health by addressing social and environmental conditions that influence well-being. Volunteer activities are tailored to local needs and include:

These efforts help expand access to essential resources and complement clinical care by supporting healthier, more resilient communities.

“Health takes root where people live,” said Tiffany Benjamin, CEO of the Humana Foundation. “This day reflects our commitment to listening to local needs, showing up with care and working alongside partners to help remove barriers and strengthen the conditions that allow people to thrive.”

Supporting long-term community well-being

Humana Community Day is part of Humana’s broader commitment to improving health beyond the healthcare setting. This month also marks Humana’s 65th anniversary—65 years of earning the trust of the people and neighborhoods we serve and staying dedicated to their health and well-being. Each year, Humana associates and the Humana Foundation demonstrate this commitment through significant volunteer time, charitable support and community partnership investment to advance community health nationwide.

The initiative reflects a systems-based approach to health—connecting people with resources that support prevention, access and overall well-being.

“At CenterWell, we focus on making it easier for people to get the care and support they need—when and where they need it,” said Dr. Sanjay Shetty, President of CenterWell. “Efforts like Humana Community Day help extend that approach into the community by addressing everyday barriers to health, strengthening connections and supporting a more seamless, personal care experience.”

Strengthening communities and employee connection

In addition to its community impact, Humana Community Day strengthens employee engagement, connection and belonging. By serving together, employees build relationships and contribute to a culture focused on care, service and collaboration.

From large-scale events in Humana’s corporate hometown of Louisville, KY, to localized volunteer efforts across Florida, Texas and Louisiana, each activity is designed to deliver meaningful, sustainable impact based on community needs.
