KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--China’s Shanxi Province–Malaysia Economic, Trade and Cultural Tourism Exchange Conference was held in Kuala Lumpur on July 21, bringing together more than 120 representatives from the economic, trade, cultural and tourism sectors of both countries.

The event was jointly organized by the Shanxi Provincial Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Shanxi Province, and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Shanxi Province. It aimed to promote industrial connectivity, resource sharing and people-to-people exchanges between Shanxi and Malaysia.

At the conference, Shanxi presented its cultural and tourism resources, including museum collections, natural landscapes, ancient architecture and wellness retreats. The province is developing tourism around three major attractions: the Great Wall, the Yellow River and the Taihang Mountains.

Shanxi is also improving services for international visitors by strengthening tourism infrastructure, transport networks and international tourism services.

Representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Shanxi Province, Shanxi Cultural Tourism Investment Holding Group, Shanxi Road & Bridge Construction Group and other organizations introduced investment opportunities and areas for cooperation. These included agricultural branding, cultural tourism development, infrastructure, and industrial transformation and upgrading.

The conference also resulted in several cooperation agreements. The Shanxi Provincial Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and participating Shanxi enterprises signed agreements with Malaysian chambers of commerce and companies.

The event featured exhibition areas for tourism attractions, specialty products and business negotiations. Traditional crafts and photographs of Shanxi’s landscapes were displayed, while the “Splendid Shanxi” virtual-reality experience introduced visitors to the province’s cultural and tourism attractions.

Shanxi companies also held one-to-one discussions with Malaysian participants on cooperation in agriculture, manufacturing, cross-border e-commerce and other sectors.

The conference provided a platform for expanding economic cooperation and strengthening cultural and people-to-people exchanges between Shanxi and Malaysia.
