Clearwater Paper Launches Circa™ Recycled Paperboard in Collaboration with Greenpaper for U.S. Market

SPOKANE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, Clearwater Paper Corporation (NYSE: CLW) announced the launch of Circa™ paperboard, a new line of coated recycled board (CRB) for folding carton and carrier applications in the United States, developed through a strategic collaboration with Greenpaper, a global producer of 100% recycled fiber paperboard.

Circa paperboard expands Clearwater Paper’s portfolio with a high-performance recycled option designed to deliver dependable converting performance, reliable supply and strong value for everyday packaging applications.

“Circa paperboard represents a strategic expansion of our portfolio and reinforces our commitment to delivering solutions that meet a broader range of customer needs,” said Arsen Kitch, president and chief executive officer. “Through our collaboration with Greenpaper, we are bringing a high-quality recycled paperboard offering to the U.S. market that complements our premium solid bleached sulfate (SBS) portfolio and strengthens our ability to serve customers across more applications.”

Circa paperboard offers converters and brand owners a cost-effective, sustainable packaging alternative. The line includes Circa Carton, a coated recycled folding carton board, and Circa Carrier, a high-strength carrier board engineered for demanding environments.

"We are very excited about this collaboration with a premier paperboard company, as it reflects our vision to diversify our product reach while strengthening our position in the U.S. market,” said Bernardo Zambrano, CEO of Greenpaper. “This launch reinforces Greenpaper’s long-term commitment to recycled paperboard solutions and sustainable packaging. We believe Circa will provide U.S. customers with a new alternative for high-quality CRB and recycled carrier grades from a non-integrated, fully independent producer,” he added.

“This launch gives customers more flexibility without compromising performance,” said Steve Bowden, senior vice president of commercial. “Converters are looking for recycled options that perform consistently and are readily available. Circa recycled paperboard delivers strong printability, durability and wet-strength performance, supported by Clearwater’s proven supply chain and service model.”

Made from 100% recycled fiber, Circa paperboard supports customers’ sustainability goals while maintaining the strength and performance required across a wide range of packaging applications. Greenpaper produces paperboard on its newly-reinvested state-of-the-art recycled paper machine using a circular manufacturing model that incorporates post-consumer materials into new packaging solutions.

By combining Clearwater Paper’s market reach, support and service with Greenpaper’s manufacturing capabilities, the collaboration expands access to CRB to independent converters in the United States.
