New LDC Report Produced in Partnership with the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University Finds U.S. Latinos Are Driving the Third Largest Consumer Cohort in the World
The report finds that the U.S. Latino economy continues to outperform the broader U.S. economy across several key economic indicators. At $4.4 trillion in GDP, the U.S. Latino economy, if measured independently, would rank as the world's fourth largest, above Germany and India, and it is also the fastest-growing among the world's largest economies.
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Latino Donor Collaborative (LDC) today released The 2026 LDC U.S. Latino Economic Impact Report: Part One, revealing that U.S. Latinos generated 28.2% of all U.S. economic growth in 2024 despite representing approximately 20% of the population. They continue to outpace national growth across income, entrepreneurship, and consumer spending.
The report's findings will be featured today on CNBC's Squawk Box, where Sol Trujillo, Chairman and Co-Founder of the LDC, will discuss what the data means for investors and policymakers assessing where U.S. economic growth is headed.
Additionally, U.S. Latinos generated $3.4 trillion in Gross Domestic Income in 2024, an 8% increase over the previous year, while household consumption reached $2.8 trillion, the third largest consumer cohort in the world, larger than that of Germany and India. Since 2019, inflation-adjusted Latino household consumption has grown nearly three times faster than that of non-Latino households.
These gains are supported by long-term demographic and economic fundamentals. The report finds that the U.S. Latino population is younger than the nation, concentrated in prime working years, and creating businesses at more than 2.5 times the national rate. Latino-owned employer businesses now number 5.7 million, while rising homeownership and household formation continue to expand the community's economic footprint across nearly every sector of the economy.
While California's Latino economy surpassed $1.1 trillion in 2024 and Texas reached $820 billion, Latino communities are also reshaping state economies across the country, including in states such as North Carolina and Missouri, where Latino population growth is expanding local workforces, businesses, and consumer markets.
The report also highlights the economic contributions of U.S. Latinos of Mexican descent, who account for 57% of the U.S. Latino population and generate $2.3 trillion in economic output. Their contributions underscore the central role they play within the broader U.S. Latino economy and in driving economic growth across the United States.
“Latino household consumption is expanding at nearly three times the pace of the rest of the U.S. consumer base. Any company, investor, or policymaker assessing where demand will come from over the next decade has the answer in front of them,” said Sol Trujillo, Chairman and Co-Founder of the Latino Donor Collaborative.
"The conversation about U.S. Latinos has focused on demographics for far too long," said Ana Valdez, President and CEO of the Latino Donor Collaborative. "This report demonstrates that the real story is economic performance. U.S. Latinos are earning more, creating more businesses, buying more homes, strengthening our workforce, and driving consumer demand at a pace that is reshaping the American economy. Businesses that recognize these trends and plan for the economy taking shape today will be better positioned to compete in the years ahead."
Produced in partnership with the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, The 2026 LDC U.S. Latino Economic Impact Report: Part One reinforces a central conclusion: understanding the future of the American economy requires understanding the expanding role of U.S. Latinos within it.
