With direct flights to Panama City, this is an ideal opportunity for Honduran visitors to combine shopping with travel and tourism in one trip. Panama Black Weekend invites visitors to enjoy an international quality shopping experience - global brands, attractive prices and one of the lowest tax rates in the region: 7%.
“Honduras is a strategic market for Panama and promotions such as Panama Black Weekend enable us to showcase the variety of experiences that the country has to offer over and above shopping. We want visitors to make the most of their stay to discover our cuisine, culture, and natural beauty and the seamless connectivity that makes Panama the gateway to the region,” said Gloria de León, Panama's Minister for Tourism.
Traveling to Panama from Honduras is getting easier and easier. Copa Airlines runs two non-stop, direct flights from the cities of Comayagua and San Pedro Sula to Panama City. There's also the Panama Stopover program, which enables visitors to make an additional stay in Panama of up to 15 days with no additional airfare, turning the trip into a two-destination experience for the price of one.
Panama is sparking increasing interest as a destination for Honduran travelers. Last year alone, 40,457 tourists visited Panama from Honduras, according to passenger arrival numbers recorded by Tocumen International Airport, an increase of 5.27% compared to 2024. This increase reflects the potential of the Honduran market and growing interest in discovering the many experiences that Panama has to offer.
As well as shopping, Panama also offers Honduran visitors the chance to savor the country's culture, cuisine, and natural beauty. A few days is all it takes to visit the Casco Antiguo, a designated UNESCO World Heritage site; enjoy the culinary delights of Panama City, recognized as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy; and explore a country that connects the Caribbean with the Pacific and tropical forest with urban life in a single itinerary.
Panama Black Weekend is an initiative of the Panamanian Association of Shopping Centers (APACECOM), supported by the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP) and Visit Panamá, with the aim of positioning the country as one of the major tourist destinations for shopping in the region.
