Glenn Youngkin, 74th Governor of Virginia and former Carlyle Co-CEO, Joins Red Cell Partners as Chairman

MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Red Cell Partners announced today that the 74th Governor of Virginia and former Co-CEO of The Carlyle Group, Glenn Youngkin, has joined as partner, chairman, and board member. Founded in 2020, Red Cell launches, scales, and operates national security, cyber, and healthcare technology companies.

“Red Cell is redefining the start-up and venture capital formula by bringing together true visionaries, deep sector and operating expertise, and capital—both their own funds and world-class venture partners. I can’t overstate how much energy this place has, with recent landmark successes of companies built at Red Cell, like Trase, Claros, and Hunted Labs, plus investments like Epirus. By specializing in national security, cyber, and health care, Red Cell is creating solutions to problems that are both mission-critical for those industries and our country,” said former Governor Youngkin. “My friend Grant Verstandig and the Red Cell leadership team have already launched numerous breakout companies in just a few years, and I’m excited to help them grow even faster.”

Red Cell was founded by Verstandig after he sold his first company, Rally Health—a consumer-centric health company—to UnitedHealth Group in 2017 for $4 billion, which represented one of the largest digital health exits at the time. A Washington, D.C. native, Verstandig is a serial entrepreneur who, in addition to founding Rally, co-founded multiple businesses, including Epirus, Trase, and several other Red Cell portfolio companies.

“Governor Youngkin has built a remarkable career tackling complex challenges at the highest levels of business and in government to drive meaningful change not only for the people of Virginia, but for this country,” said Grant Verstandig, founder and CEO of Red Cell Partners. “The industries we work in are the hardest and most consequential to America's future. Transforming them requires people like Governor Youngkin, people who know how to run things and who aren't afraid to break from the status quo. I’m deeply honored to welcome him to Red Cell."
