Sterlington Launches Matrimonial and Family Law Practice with Arrivals from Kasowitz

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sterlington is pleased to announce the launch of its Matrimonial and Family Law practice with the arrival of a team from Kasowitz, led by partner Kelly A. Frawley and counsel Joseph Hyland. The new practice extends Sterlington's offering to the full range of matrimonial and family law matters — including divorce, the distribution of assets and liabilities, custody, child and spousal support, and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements — with a particular focus on complex financial matters for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and their families.

Frawley, who leads the new practice, is a leading matrimonial and family lawyer who represents high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients across divorce, equitable distribution of assets and liabilities, custody, child and spousal support, paternity, and civil orders of protection, and regularly handles matters involving hedge fund and private equity interests. A skilled negotiator and litigator who began her career as a narcotics prosecutor at the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, she was previously a partner and chair of the Matrimonial and Family Law practice at Kasowitz. She is recognized as a leading matrimonial lawyer by Spear's 500 and has been selected to Best Lawyers® and Super Lawyers®, named a Family Law Trailblazer by the National Law Journal, a Notable Woman in Law by Crain's New York Business, and a Woman Worth Watching by Diversity Journal.

Hyland, who joins as counsel, advises high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals on complex financial issues in matrimonial matters, including identifying and distributing assets, enforcing prenuptial agreements, and tracing premarital and separate property, and works closely with financial experts to value non-liquid assets such as business interests, real estate, and equity. A proficient negotiator and Certified Divorce Mediator with extensive courtroom and trial experience, he was previously special counsel at Kasowitz, where he began his career in complex commercial litigation.

"We were drawn to Sterlington's focus on founders, senior executives, and high-net-worth individuals, which aligns naturally with the clients we serve," said Frawley. "The firm's platform is an ideal home for our matrimonial and family law practice, and we're excited to grow it here."

"Kelly is one of the most highly regarded matrimonial lawyers in New York, and launching a Matrimonial and Family Law practice is a natural extension of our work for founders, senior executives, and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and their families," said Christopher S. Harrison, Managing Partner of Sterlington. "We're delighted to welcome Kelly and Joseph at a time of exceptional growth for the firm."

Kelly and Joseph join a firm that has built a strong ultra-high-net-worth practice over the past few years. Harrison and Jeremy Goldstein, both Chambers-ranked partners, advise founders and CEOs through career-defining, multibillion-dollar transactions. Daniel Cooper, recognized by Chambers for Private Wealth Law, advises ultra-high-net-worth and high-net-worth individuals and families on wealth preservation, estate and trust administration, and succession planning. Courtney Rockett, a renowned litigator, is trusted with clients' most sensitive, high-stakes disputes - spanning commercial, fiduciary duty, defamation, securities, private aviation, and IP matters. Paul Jebely is known as the "billionaire whisperer" for his deep relationships and strategic advisory. He is ranked in Chambers for private aviation.
