GEDCO Celebrates 35 Years of Serving and Making an Impact on Baltimore City By Launching its Annual Golf Tournament on June 1, 2026
BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Govans Ecumenical Development Corporation (GEDCO) marked its 35th anniversary of serving Baltimore City with a successful 10th Annual Golf Tournament held June 1 at Piney Branch Golf Club.
The tournament attracted over 80 corporate golfers and community supporters who gathered to raise funds for GEDCO’s affordable housing and supportive service programs that assist older adults, individuals experiencing homelessness, and families facing financial hardship.
The event was made possible through the generous support of title sponsor Sorren, formerly Gorfine, Schiller & Gardyn, along with major sponsors including Harkins Builders, MedCap, Moseley Architect, Y of Central Maryland, John Evans Recruiting, Fulton Bank, and numerous other corporate and community partners.
“GEDCO’s work has a meaningful impact on individuals and families throughout our community, and we are proud to support that mission as the title sponsor of the 2026 golf tournament,” said Scott Rodgville, Owings Mills Office Managing Partner at Sorren. “Our firm has always believed in building strong relationships and giving back to the communities we serve. Supporting GEDCO reflects those values, and we are grateful for the opportunity to help advance the organization’s important work.”
Proceeds from the tournament will support GEDCO's affordable housing communities and programs that provide supportive services, food assistance, workforce development, and emergency financial assistance, including eviction prevention and utility assistance.
Founded in 1991, GEDCO serves thousands of Baltimore City residents annually through a network of housing and community-based programs designed to address homelessness, hunger, poverty, and social isolation among older adults.
The golf tournament is one of several events planned during GEDCO's yearlong 35th Anniversary Celebration. On July 18, GEDCO will host a Community Festival that will connect residents with local organizations and resources focused on housing, employment, health, food security, and community services.
The anniversary celebration will culminate on November 19 with GEDCO's 35th Anniversary Celebration at the M&T Bank Exchange from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., where community leaders, supporters, and partners will gather to commemorate the organization's legacy of service and recognize those who have helped advance its mission over the past three and a half decades.
GEDCO remains dedicated to strengthening Baltimore communities by providing pathways to housing stability, food security, and economic opportunity for those most in need.
