The Honorable Derek Kilmer joins BAE Systems, Inc. Board of Directors

FALLS CHURCH, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BAE Systems, Inc. today announced that the Honorable Derek Kilmer has been appointed to its Board of Directors.

Kilmer currently serves as the senior vice president of U.S. Program and Policy for The Rockefeller Foundation, where he leads the Foundation’s new economic opportunity agenda — helping communities navigate economic and technological disruption, connect more people to good jobs, and shape economic opportunity. He also leads the Foundation’s global and domestic policy teams, engaging leaders, civil society, businesses, and institutions to advance the Foundation’s mission.

Before joining The Rockefeller Foundation, Kilmer represented Washington’s Sixth Congressional District for six terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. During his tenure, he served as Chairman of the Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress and as a member of the Appropriations, Armed Services and Science, Space & Technology committees.

Prior to his congressional service, Kilmer served as state senator in the Washington State Senate and a state representative in the Washington State House of Representatives. He also dedicated his efforts to a nonprofit organization focused on regional economic development, and as a consultant for McKinsey & Company, where he advised global organizations on critical business operations.

Kilmer earned a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and holds a doctorate from the University of Oxford.
