Trace Midstream to Construct Apollo Gas Plant, a New Natural Gas Processing Facility in the Northern Delaware Basin

New plant will add 250 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) of cryogenic natural gas processing capacity, significantly expanding Trace’s service offerings across Eddy and Lea counties in southeastern New Mexico

  • Trace will construct 36 miles of new gathering pipelines and two new compressor stations which will leverage Trace’s existing system and deliver volumes to the newly constructed Apollo Gas Plant.
  • The Apollo Gas Plant and its supporting infrastructure are backed by multiple new long-term contracts with both new and existing customers.
  • The Apollo Gas Plant is expected to be in service in the fourth quarter of 2027.
  • Trace’s entry into natural gas processing is the next step in the continued growth of the Trace System across the Northern Delaware Basin.

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Trace Midstream Partners II, LLC (“Trace”), a portfolio company of Quantum Capital Group (“Quantum”), announced today that it will construct the Apollo Gas Plant, a new 250 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) natural gas processing facility in Eddy County, New Mexico. Trace will also construct 36 miles of gathering pipelines and two compressor stations. Supported by multiple long-term contracts from both new and existing customers and expected to be in service in the fourth quarter of 2027, this new infrastructure will give Northern Delaware Basin producers a single, integrated outlet spanning low-pressure gathering, compression, transportation and natural gas processing.

“The Apollo Gas Plant is a transformational addition to the Trace System, expanding our services across the natural gas value chain,” said Josh Weber, Trace Chief Executive Officer. “By adding processing to our existing gathering, compression and transportation infrastructure, we can offer producers a single and reliable solution for their natural gas. As activity continues to surge in the Northern Delaware Basin, Trace remains committed to investing in the infrastructure required to support our customer’s growth.”

The new Apollo Gas Plant and related infrastructure build on a sustained period of investment and growth across the Trace system. Once these projects are completed, Trace will operate over 200 miles of pipelines, 14 compressor stations and more than 125,000 horsepower of compression. What began as a focused gathering and compression system has grown into one of the largest, newly constructed natural gas midstream systems in the Northern Delaware Basin, with the ability to gather and transport more than 800 MMcf/d. With the completion of the Apollo Gas Plant, the Trace footprint will give producers in the region a fully integrated, wellhead-to-market midstream platform.
