Origin Specialty Expands SitePrep GL Program With Higher Limits and Environmental Protection for Site-Preparation Contractors
Enhanced program gives wholesale brokers a stronger solution for excavation, grading, drainage, demolition, paving, and related contractors facing growing contractual demands and pollution exposures from routine site work.
ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Origin Specialty Underwriters Agency, LLC (“Origin Specialty”), a Beyond Risk company, today announced an expansion of its SitePrep GL Program, adding new higher limits and available environmental protection for site-preparation and horizontal construction contractors.
“Site-preparation contractors do not have to be environmental contractors to face environmental claims. This enhancement gives brokers a stronger way to address routine jobsite pollution exposures while responding to higher-limit and contractual demands.”

The enhanced program is designed to help wholesale brokers address two increasingly important challenges in the site-preparation market: higher contractual insurance requirements and pollution exposures that can arise from everyday contractor operations such as excavation, grading, hauling, underground utility work, stormwater runoff, and soil disturbance.
Origin Specialty’s enhanced SitePrep program now offers $2 million occurrence / $4 million general aggregate / $4 million products-completed operations aggregate limits, along with available Contractors Pollution Liability protection for eligible accounts. The program gives wholesalers a stronger option to retain key accounts, win new business, and help clients close important coverage gaps that standard General Liability policies may not fully address.
“Site-preparation contractors do not have to be environmental contractors to face environmental claims,” said MaryBeth Schram, VP and Head of Construction at Origin Specialty Underwriters. “A diesel spill, hydraulic fluid release, sediment runoff event, contaminated soil allegation, or disposal-site dispute can create immediate cleanup costs and third-party liability concerns. This enhancement gives brokers a more complete way to address those exposures while also responding to the higher-limit and contractual demands we are seeing in the market.”
Horizontal construction contractors are often exposed to environmental risk through ordinary jobsite activity. A contractor may overfill a bulldozer during refueling, rupture a hydraulic line near a drainage ditch, move contaminated soil during grading, or send spoils to a disposal site that later raises contamination allegations. These incidents can lead to cleanup costs, regulatory demands, bodily injury claims, property damage claims, and reputational concerns.
Origin Specialty’s SitePrep environmental protection enhancement is designed to help address covered pollution conditions arising from the contractor’s work, subject to underwriting approval and policy terms, conditions, exclusions, limits, and retentions.
