Absolute Security Unveils Lenovo ThinkShield TraceLock, Giving Customers the Ability to Maintain Control, Security, and Resilience Across Offline PCs

Persistent Connection to Endpoint Devices that are Powered Off or Disconnected Enables Enforcement of Compliance, Security, and Resilience Across All Supported Devices

SEATTLE & NATIONAL HARBOR, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Gartner SRMS 2026Absolute Security, an enterprise cyber resilience leader, today unveiled Lenovo ThinkShield TraceLock. Powered by the Absolute Security Cyber Resilience Platform, customers can leverage this innovation to locate, wake, connect, control, and restore supported devices through a firmware-embedded, persistent connection, even when they are powered off or disconnected from WiFi or local area networks.

With the ability to locate and control offline, lost, missing, or stolen PCs, security and IT teams can help ensure their networks, systems, and data remain protected and resilient against threats, theft, compromises, negligence, and downtime caused by software failures and cyber disruptions.

“Businesses use hundreds of millions of PCs to keep their operations running and employees fully productive, yet new research shows that organizations can’t locate or control 25 percent of their deployed devices,” said John Herrema, Chief Product Officer, Absolute Security. “Working with Lenovo, we’re helping our customers to maintain connectivity, visibility, and continuous control over their devices, even when they’re powered off or disconnected.”

ThinkShield TraceLock is enabled by the Absolute Connections Framework™, a firmware-based architecture designed to maintain persistent communication with endpoint devices. Through remote connectivity capabilities and a single cloud-based console, organizations can:

  • Maintain visibility and control of supported devices from below the OS, even when they have been powered off or disconnected from corporate networks and the Internet.
  • Reduce the risk of data breaches, ransomware, and compromises, with the ability to reinstate and enforce security, compliance, and access policies across supported endpoints.
  • Help prevent unauthorized access to networks and sensitive data with the ability to remotely lock devices and wipe hard drives.
  • Meet internal compliance policies and industry regulation requirements with documentation through audit-ready templates available to major industries.
  • Reduce downtime by automating the restoration of failed PCs back to a last known good state, including reimaging of crashed, compromised, or corrupted operating systems.

“AI has changed cybersecurity and today’s enterprises demand a new level of control and peace of mind that doesn’t stop at the operating system or on the network edge,” said Nima Baiati, Vice President and General Manager, Commercial Software & Security Solutions, Lenovo. “Developed in partnership with Absolute Security, Lenovo’s ThinkShield TraceLock gives organizations an extra layer of protection and visibility. IT teams can now remotely locate, wake and wipe devices even if they are powered off or not on the corporate network.”

Starting July 1, 2026, ThinkShield TraceLock is available on select ThinkPads equipped with WWAN including: ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14, ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Gen 11, ThinkPad T14s Gen 7 Intel and ThinkPad T16 Gen 5 Intel. When ordering new ThinkPads, ThinkShield TraceLock can be added through Absolute Control and Absolute Resilience licenses.
