BioTalent Canada Advances Cleanroom Readiness Certification Through Digital Twinning

OTTAWA, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BioTalent Canada is advancing their development of a cleanroom readiness certification for the health and bioscience sector, supported by a digital twin cleanroom training environment designed to simulate cleanroom scenarios for scalable learning and practice. As Canada’s bio-economy evolves rapidly across biomanufacturing, clean technologies, and health sciences, the certification and digital twin cleanroom training will provide employers and training partners with practical workforce solutions that can keep pace.

Funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Sectoral Workforce Solutions Program (SWSP), this work is the first-year focus of a multi-year initiative that will enable BioTalent Canada to develop a broader suite of workforce products over time.

Through direct collaboration with industry, BioTalent Canada will build on the foundational work to develop the National Skills Standards for Cleanroom Readiness and determine the benefits of a cleanroom-readiness certification and a digital twin training environment. Since a resilient economy will depend on a skilled, adaptable, and diverse talent pool, precision in workforce planning will be critical.

“This is about building practical workforce products the sector can use,” says Rob Henderson, President and CEO of BioTalent Canada. “Cleanroom skills are foundational to Canada’s biomanufacturing readiness. Through this work, we’re creating industry-aligned approaches that support job-ready talent and help employers plan with more clarity and confidence. Skills don’t have borders—and when we pair training with credible standards, we strengthen workforce mobility and long-term resilience.”

“Investing in the skills of our workforce is crucial for strengthening Canada’s economy. This initiative enhances the capabilities of both workers and employers in the health and bioscience sectors, ensuring our industry remains innovative and competitive on a global scale. By prioritizing training and development, we are creating new opportunities for individuals and fostering a resilient, adaptable workforce that can thrive in this rapidly evolving and crucial industry,” says The Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario.

Over the course of the larger, multi-year project, BioTalent Canada will research and develop additional workforce products—such as updated labour market intelligence (LMI), evidence-based National Occupational Standards (NOS), and career pathways—to support workforce planning, skills development, and career navigation across Canada’s bio-economy. Additional products will be announced as they are developed and validated through ongoing engagement.
