Battelle’s RavenStar™ Ultra-Wideband Massive MIMO Radio Unit Wins 2026 We Love Tech Award

Recognition highlights Battelle’s innovation in compact, multi-band wireless infrastructure

COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Battelle announced today that its RavenStar™ Ultra-Wideband Massive MIMO Radio Unit has been named a winner in the Networking category of the 2026 Evan Kirstel's We Love Tech Awards. The recognition highlights Battelle’s role in advancing communications networking infrastructure with more efficient, flexible solutions.

The We Love Tech Awards is an annual program celebrating individuals, organizations and products reshaping how enterprises work, communicate, secure data, serve customers and put artificial intelligence into responsible production.

Wireless providers face rising demands for data consumption addressed through an increasing number of frequency bands often within limited deployment space. Traditional systems rely on band-specific hardware, which adds cost, weight and installation challenges.

“As networks grow more complex, operators need solutions that simplify deployment without sacrificing performance,” said Doug Thornton, Ph.D., National Security Technical Director at Battelle. “The RavenStar Radio Unit delivers that balance by reducing hardware requirements while enabling adaptable, high-capacity connectivity.”

By reducing the need for separate antennas, radios and supporting hardware, the system can simplify deployment, lower infrastructure complexity and improve network flexibility. The system supports multi-band operations in a single unit, helping reduce lifecycle costs, simplify installation and accelerate deployment timelines. It has been validated through field testing and real-world deployments across multiple environments.

“The RavenStar Radio Unit makes high-performance wireless infrastructure far easier to deploy and scale,” said Mark Reudink, VP of Product Development at Battelle. “With multi-band capability in a single unit, operators can increase capacity and coverage across diverse environments more quickly with fewer constraints and lower cost.”

The RavenStar Radio Unit replaces complex, multi-antenna legacy systems with a compact, adaptive RF platform. It sets a new baseline for energy-efficient RF infrastructure that delivers faster networks and can leverage advances in AI to significantly improve network performance.
