Mizuho Expands “A Name Worth Knowing Award” to Support Two Promising Junior Golfers
Recipients Christine Park and Myla Kumar Awarded Liberty National ACE Grants to Offset AJGA Expenses
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mizuho Americas today announced two recipients of the A Name Worth Knowing Award, an expansion of the program that recognizes standout female American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) golfers. The award, given this year to Christine Park of Norwood, NJ and Myla Kumar of Pompano Beach, FL, provides a grant to each recipient to help cover her expenses for the season.
The grant provides funds that support a range of AJGA expenses, including membership fees, travel, and housing, ensuring that these junior golfers have the financial support to pursue the sport at the highest level. Recipients are selected based on a demonstration of Mizuho’s corporate values of integrity, passion, agility, creativity, and empathy, as well as a commitment to excellence both on and off the course.
“We’re thrilled to expand the A Name Worth Knowing Award to two recipients this year, reinforcing our commitment to advancing the next generation of talent,” said Jerry Rizzieri, President & CEO, Mizuho Securities USA and Head of CIB. “We’re proud to recognize Christine and Myla and provide resources they need to reach their full potential within the AJGA. Through their hard work, dedication, and commitment within their communities, each golfer represents the spirit of the award and the future of the sport.”
The recipients were celebrated this week during the Mizuho Americas Open at Mountain Ridge Country Club, where LPGA and AJGA golfers compete side by side for an unprecedented week of education, mentorship, and access. They attended the tournament and participated together in Mizuho’s Inside the Ropes experience, giving them a front-row view of the competition.
“I continue to be grateful for Mizuho’s investment in the next generation of talent as they expand the A Name Worth Knowing Award this year,” said Michelle Wie West, LPGA Icon, Mizuho Americas Open Tournament Host, and Mizuho Brand Ambassador. “Both Christine and Myla truly embody Mizuho’s corporate values, and I can’t wait to see the impact they make on the future of golf.”
