The MolinaCares Accord Invests $256,000 in MolinaCares for Idaho Families Initiative to Improve Access to Health Care in Idaho

BOISE, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of Idaho (“Molina”), has launched its MolinaCares for Idaho Families Initiative with an initial commitment of $256,000 to more than 10 local community-based organizations to enhance access to care and improve health outcomes for Idahoans.

“Health is influenced by far more than health care alone – it’s about access, opportunity, and the ability to meet everyday needs,” said Brandi Waselewski, executive director at Metro Community Services, one of the organizations receiving a MolinaCares grant. “Thanks to our partnership with Molina, Metro Community Services can now provide no-cost transportation services to adults with chronic conditions and disabilities in Canyon County so they can remain in their homes and still get the care they need.”

Idaho faces severe health care access challenges rooted in its rural geography and limited physician availability. Through this MolinaCares grant and Molina’s collaboration with community partners, Idahoans will benefit from increased access to physical and behavioral health care, improved transportation services for adults managing chronic conditions and disabilities, expanded health education workshops and outreach, and increased caregiver support.

“At Molina, we’re deeply committed to addressing the most pressing health challenges that Idaho families and caregivers face,” said Brandon Hendrickson, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Idaho. “Through this MolinaCares initiative, we’re expanding access to coordinated services that help our communities stay healthy and maintain independence.”

As part of its continued commitment to Idaho communities, Molina will focus on the following health priorities through the MolinaCares for Idaho Families Initiative:

Behavioral Health

In Idaho, 1 in 5 adults experience a mental illness each year, yet more than 1.2 million Idahoans live in a community with a shortage of mental health professionals. Molina and partners are dedicated to supporting initiatives that enable individuals to access behavioral health care and increase the capacity of local providers to deliver care.

Health-Related Social Needs

Research consistently shows that factors such as housing stability, food security, access to transportation, and economic security play a critical role in shaping health outcomes. Molina is committed to working with community partners to address health-related social needs, so all Idahoans have the resources to thrive.

Workforce Development

With a shortage of physicians, efforts to train and expand the capacity of health care providers in Idaho are critical to improving health outcomes. Molina’s investments support workforce development by expanding education and training opportunities, and funding health education workshops and community outreach initiatives that connect individuals to care and support services.
