Family, Appellate Law Attorney Richard Orsinger Honored for Dedication to Professional Development

Orsinger, Nelson, Downing & Anderson co-founder is a longtime leader in legal education

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Family law and appellate lawyer Richard Orsinger has earned the 2026 Patrick A. Nester Outstanding Achievement in CLE Award for his career-spanning dedication to the promotion and advancement of continuing legal education.

Mr. Orsinger, a co-founder and name partner in the family law firm Orsinger, Nelson, Downing & Anderson, will be honored May 5 during the State Bar of Texas Continuing Legal Education Committee’s annual dinner. He is the 10^th attorney to receive this recognition.

His commitment to mentoring and education is evidenced by more than 275 CLE presentations he has written and presented over his 50-year career. His programs have covered topics impacting family law, rules of evidence and rules of procedure, contract law, business law, fiduciary law, trust law, appellate procedure and many other subjects.

“It is a great honor to receive this award in commemoration of Pat Nester. The standard he set for what legal education can and should be is something I strive for every time I begin a new program. I hope I can keep adding to his legacy,” said Mr. Orsinger.

The founder of the Texas Family Law Foundation, Mr. Orsinger twice earned the Franklin Jones Best Continuing Legal Education Article Award from the College of the State Bar of Texas. Earlier this year, he received the Texas Board of Legal Specialization’s John F. Sheehy Jr. Distinguished Attorney Award.

He was inducted into the State Bar of Texas Family Law Hall of Legends in 2021 and is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in family and civil appellate law.
