The MoonPay X Games League (XGL) Announces Sale of New York’s Summer and Winter Teams to UNA Sports Group
X Games Sells Two New York Teams (Summer + Winter) in Eight-Figure Deal, Establishing a Full-Time Presence in the Tri-State Region
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The MoonPay X Games League (“XGL”) today announced the sale of both its New York Summer and New York Winter teams to UNA Sports Group (“UNA”) in an eight-figure transaction. UNA is the first single group to own two X Games League Clubs.
UNA is an investment firm focused on acquiring and partnering with leading global professional sports franchises and platforms. The firm targets high-quality assets at the intersection of sport, media, and culture, with an emphasis on long-term value creation. UNA is led by a partnership of executives with deep experience across sports operations and investment: Del Wright, CEO and Managing Partner; David Rader, President; and Andrew Thau, Founder & Partner. Thau is the former Chief Operating Officer of United Talent Agency and will serve as Governor of the New York X Games franchise. Together, they will operate X Games Club New York across both Summer and Winter seasons, establishing a permanent X Games presence in one of the world’s leading sports and cultural markets.
The MoonPay X Games League has engaged Moelis & Co LLC as financial advisor to support the evaluation and execution of team sales and expansion opportunities. Additional franchise sales are expected in the coming months.
“This is the starting line,” said Jeremy Bloom, CEO of X Games. “We are launching teams and establishing a permanent presence in major markets. This deal puts X Games in New York across both Summer and Winter. UNA is the right ownership group to build it over the long term.”
Building on this momentum, X Games is prioritizing New York as a core host market, with plans to bring both Summer and Winter events to the state in the coming years, alongside a steady cadence of athlete appearances, community events, and fan engagement opportunities.
In a joint statement, UNA Sports Group leadership shared: “We’re excited to partner with X Games at a pivotal moment. The shift to a team-based model creates a strong platform for growth, fan engagement, and long-term value. This investment aligns with our strategy to combine capital and expertise to scale premier sports properties with global reach.”
X Games Club New York is led by team captain Nyjah Huston, the American skateboarding legend and one of the most decorated athletes in the sport. Joining Huston is Australian teenage skateboarding sensation Chloe Covell, selected by the Club with the first pick in the inaugural MoonPay X Games League Summer Draft, alongside American BMX star Hannah Roberts, a multi-time world champion and Olympic medalist; Australian BMX Olympic gold medalist Logan Martin; and a host of other world-class athletes. Together, the roster blends emerging talent with some of the most accomplished athletes in action sports, representing a truly global team built to compete for championships.
X Games Club New York General Manager Steve Rodriguez, a longtime New York City-based entrepreneur and lifelong skateboarder commented: “It’s an honor to help lead this next chapter and I look forward to working with the ownership team to unlock opportunities for the Club, win championships, and support our athletes.”
The launch of XGL represents a structural shift in action sports, creating recurring value for athletes, partners, and ownership groups while strengthening fan connection through a city-based team model.
The 2026 XGL Summer Season begins June 26 in Sacramento, followed by Chiba, Japan, and concludes with the Championship July 24–26 in New Orleans at the Caesars Superdome. The team with the highest cumulative score across the season will be crowned the first XGL Champion and awarded a $500,000 team purse.
