Patomak Global Partners Announces Former CFTC Chairman J. Christopher Giancarlo as Senior Strategic Advisor

Giancarlo brings deep regulatory expertise in derivatives, digital assets, and financial markets.

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Patomak Global Partners, LLC announced today that former Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman J. Christopher Giancarlo is joining the firm as senior strategic advisor. Mr. Giancarlo, widely known as “Crypto Dad” for his foundational work in the digital asset space, will be based in Patomak’s New York office.

Mr. Giancarlo served as the 13th CFTC chairman from 2017 to 2019, after becoming a CFTC commissioner in 2014. During his tenure, he oversaw the launch of the first regulated market for Bitcoin derivatives and served on the Financial Stability Oversight Council, the President’s Working Group on Financial Markets, and the Executive Board of the International Organization of Securities Commissions.

Prior to his government service, Mr. Giancarlo spent 13 years as an executive vice president at GFI Group, where he directed the firm’s 2005 initial public offering. He is a co-founder and chairman of the Digital Dollar Project and currently serves as a director of Nomura Holdings, Digital Asset Holdings LLC, and Paxos Trust Company.

He received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University and his B.A. in government from Skidmore College.
