InterSystems Launches Regional Health Connections to Support Rural Health Transformation Initiatives

New offering provides shared data and coordination capabilities that complement existing care platforms for rural communities

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--InterSystems, a creative data technology provider powering more than one billion health records globally, today announced the launch of InterSystems Regional Health Connections, a new offering designed to help regional networks strengthen care coordination and data sharing across rural communities.

Patients in rural settings are generally seen by independent organizations operating on different systems and limited visibility into care beyond their own walls. Without shared data and interoperability tools, patients and their clinicians struggle to navigate next steps, and care coordination becomes fragmented as patients move between facilities.

“Rural health transformation depends on strong collaboration across a diverse network, and health officials are under increasing pressure to show measurable progress while aligning a wide range of providers, partners, and programs,” said Tim Ferris, M.D., Vice President, Healthcare Practice at InterSystems. “Regional Health Connections provides the connective infrastructure that complements the clinical systems and care models already in place.”

Regional Health Connections provides a connected data foundation and shared coordination services by unifying data into a longitudinal care record, supporting identity and provider services, and enabling secure, role-based access for care teams and partners. Designed as shared infrastructure and not a clinical system, it enables HIEs to tailor services to regional needs, align with established interoperability standards, and connect stakeholders without requiring participants to replace their existing clinical infrastructure. Patients are also able to access a single, unified view of their entire medical history through a smartphone or home computer.

Regional Health Connections builds on InterSystems extensive experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical health data infrastructure. InterSystems technology is currently used across multiple regional initiatives to connect providers, payers, and care managers, helping health systems and public-sector leaders work together more effectively.
