Mr. Desmond has been instrumental in consulting with the company’s owners and management on the expansion, and has been heavily involved with the VHFF’s philanthropy, with a recent trip to Jamaica and introduction to the foundation’s programs. From the moment he arrived in Jamaica, Mr. Desmond became heavily involved with several of the programs, including the Mona School of Business, where students presented their business projects to him, and the chicken farmer cooperatives, where the women owned farms were devastated by Hurricane Melissa. Mr. Desmond immediately provided consultation on cash flow projections and business topics for the farmers and is planning on future visits to continue his mentoring and support for these groups, with the next planned for this summer.
Mr. Desmond and his firm are no strangers to philanthropy. He has made it a point to make community outreach part of the fabric of NECP. From various local tennis programs for disadvantaged children in Boston; Santa Fe and Albuquerque, N.M.; Lafayette, La.; and Far Rockaway, NY. to business mentoring of students in Ukraine, giving back to the world has been a priority.
Mr. Desmond’s drive to accomplish all he can fuels his passion for sharing the tools and knowledge he has acquired over his career with those that are in need. “I have been fortunate in being able to celebrate 25 years of NECP this year, and sharing my experience and mentoring the next generation of business leaders is important to me on a very personal level. It is a great honor, and quite unexpected, to be named a recipient of this prestigious award. I love the people of Jamaica, and my visit was a life changing event for me. This is a great honor for my company, as well, and we will never forget the hospitality and vibrancy of the people of Jamaica,” Mr. Desmond said.
Mr. Desmond and NECP would like to thank the Vincent HoSang Family Foundation and his amazing staff for the high honor of receiving the humanitarian award and would like to encourage anyone interested in becoming involved in the organization or donating to support their work to visit https://vhff.org/get-involved/.
