This is the central finding of Techreviewer's annual Software Development Company Rates in 2026 research, based on a survey of 127 global software development companies conducted in early 2026.

AI Emerges as the Leading Driver of Rate Increases
The report’s main finding is clear: 77.2% of surveyed companies in 2026 identify new AI technologies and tools as the primary factor driving higher software development rates, up significantly from 28.8% in 2023. Additionally, 41.7% of respondents reported slight rate increases in 2026, a 14% rise compared to 2025. Only 4.72% of companies reduced their rates, indicating widespread upward pricing pressure.

Global Pricing and Market Shifts
The $30–$49 per hour price range remains the most common in 2026, accounting for 37.8% of providers across all three years studied. North America remains the leading target market at 76.4%, followed by Europe at 68.5%. East Asia experienced notable growth in interest, rising from 9.2% in 2025 to 22.8% in 2026, driven by increased investment in AI and digital transformation.

Beyond AI, other key drivers include higher market demand (58.3%), economic shifts (46.5%), rising developer salaries (40.2%), and low-code platform growth (38.6%).
