Sovos Appoints David McCann as Chief Technology Officer to Drive Next Phase of Compliance Platform Innovation

Industry veteran brings 20+ years of enterprise SaaS, AI, and cloud-native platform leadership to accelerate Sovos' global compliance technology strategy

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sovos, the always-on tax compliance company, today announced the appointment of David McCann as Chief Technology Officer. McCann joins Sovos with more than two decades of executive experience scaling enterprise SaaS platforms, leading large-scale technology transformations, and delivering measurable business impact in highly regulated industries. His appointment reinforces Sovos' commitment to category leadership in global tax and regulatory compliance software.

Most recently, McCann served as Chief Technology Officer at Self Financial, where he drove platform modernization and organizational transformation initiatives that increased delivery velocity, strengthened system resilience, and enabled the company to scale its fintech infrastructure. Prior to Self Financial, he held senior technology and product leadership roles at Abrigo – where he serves as CTO/CPO – as well as Accruent and CLEAResult. Throughout his career, McCann has served as a board member and software operating partner for venture and private equity firms and directly involved in more than $5 billion in business outcomes.

“We are at an inflection point in global tax compliance with enterprises expecting AI-powered intelligence, real-time regulatory coverage, and agentic workflows that work across their entire technology ecosystem,” said Gregg Spratto, President, Sovos. “Dave brings the exact combination of cloud-native platform depth, AI-forward thinking, and high-performance team leadership that will accelerate our ability to deliver a unified, intelligent compliance platform for multinational enterprises. He is the right leader at the right moment for Sovos.”

At Sovos, McCann will lead the global technology organization with a mandate to further differentiate the company’s compliance platform, expand its data and AI capabilities, and enhance scalability to meet the demands of multinational enterprises navigating real-time regulatory requirements. His work will build on the momentum of Sovi® AI and the Sovos Tax Compliance Cloud, deepening Sovos’ position as the definitive platform for always-on global compliance.

McCann has a proven track record of aligning technology strategy directly to revenue growth, operational efficiency, and product innovation. His leadership approach consistently integrates product, engineering, and design into a unified operating model, driving accountability for outcomes and accelerating time-to-market. He has been an early advocate for embedding AI and automation into core product and engineering workflows, positioning organizations to compete at scale in increasingly complex and dynamic markets.

“Tax and regulatory compliance sit at the intersection of data complexity, real-time processing, and trust and Sovos has built something genuinely differentiated in that space,” said McCann. “I’ve spent my career building scalable platforms that help organizations navigate complexity with confidence. I’m excited to bring that experience to Sovos and work alongside this team to shape what the future of intelligent, automated tax compliance technology looks like for global enterprises.”

McCann’s appointment follows a period of significant product momentum at Sovos, including the expansion of Sovi AI with new capabilities for tax guidance, intelligent automation, and agent interoperability. His leadership is expected to accelerate Sovos’ ability to innovate at scale, strengthen its competitive position, and extend its leadership in a rapidly evolving global compliance landscape.
