Lightcurve Opens Applications for Digital Equity Partnership Program, Expanding Free Internet Access to Underserved Communities

TACOMA, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Lightcurve, the internet provider delivering the fastest speeds at unbeatable prices across the State of Washington, today announced that applications are now open for its Digital Equity Partnership program. Developed in partnership with the City of Tacoma, the initiative provides free internet service to qualifying organizations serving low-income and underserved populations throughout Tacoma and nearby areas.

Through the program, Lightcurve is seeking public, private, and nonprofit organizations that provide critical services or access to underserved members of the community. Selected recipients will receive 12 months of complimentary internet service—up to 1 Gig—helping bridge the digital divide and expand access to reliable broadband connectivity.

Lightcurve’s Digital Equity Partnership equips organizations with the tools they need to advance their missions, unlocking new opportunities for individuals and families who might otherwise lack access to affordable internet. By enabling connectivity, the program supports education, workforce development, healthcare access, and community engagement.

“The Digital Equity Partnership reflects our commitment to ensuring everyone has access to the connectivity they need to thrive,” said Beth Barnes, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Lightcurve. “By working alongside the City of Tacoma and local organizations, we’re helping create more equitable access to essential digital resources.”

The annual application and review process is open from April 1 through May 31, 2026, with submissions evaluated based on several factors, including alignment with community equity index goals and overall benefit to the community. Applicants who meet eligibility requirements will be notified on or before May 31, with installation of services taking place within 30 days.

Applicants should note:

  • Submission does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
  • Selected organizations must sign a contract for the 12-month service period.
  • At the conclusion of the complimentary term, services will convert to the current retail rate unless canceled.
  • Current recipients may reapply each year and will be evaluated alongside all applicants.
  • By applying, organizations confirm they are authorized to enter into a service agreement and accept responsibility for managing service at the end of the program term.
  • Recipient organizations will be publicly announced each year.

The application period closes on May 31, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
