The first-ever Capability Creates Conference will feature sessions on applying CMMI in government and across other industries, alignment with other frameworks and standards, real-world insights from CMMI adopters, using CMMI to navigate CMMC requirements, and the value CMMI AIM brings for managing AI risk, performance, data, and security.
Capability Creates 2026 offers two dedicated tracks suitable for industry attendees and CMMI Partners, with content tailored to their unique roles. The conference provides a once-a-year opportunity for business leaders to connect directly with CMMI Institute, CMMI Partners, and real-world adopters to turn proven practices into measurable business results. They can also hear from organizations using CMMI in live, complex environments and discover AI best practices they can deploy immediately.
This year’s conference features two keynote speakers—Matt Travis, CEO of Cyber AB, and Keisha Thomas, Director, Compliance and Quality at the FDA.
New AI Offering
At the conference, attendees will get a first look at the CMMI AI Maturity (AIM) framework—a practical model for operationalizing AI with stronger governance, clearer performance targets, and reduced risk. Through an inside view of the AIM pilot program, participants will leave with lessons learned and proven approaches that organizations are using now to improve AI reliability, strengthen security and data controls, accelerate compliant deployment, and deliver measurable business results.
“Capability Creates 2026 is where the community comes together to turn proven practices into performance—faster delivery, higher quality, and stronger risk management,” said Ron Lear, CMMI Institute Vice President, Global CMMI Strategies. “By bringing leaders together across sectors and geographies, we’re accelerating the adoption of best practices, introducing initiatives like AIM, and helping organizations translate AI process discipline into measurable outcomes.”
