Minnesota Community Unites at 2026 Susan G. Komen® Race for the Cure

Annual Event Raises Critical Funds for Lifesaving Research, Advocacy and Direct Patient Support, Driving Local Impact

EAGAN, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Susan G. Komen®, the world’s leading breast cancer organization, will bring together breast cancer survivors, those living with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) and supporters at the Minnesota Race for the Cure on Saturday, May 9, 2026. The Minnesota community will come together to make sure no one faces breast cancer alone and help advance Komen’s mission to save lives through research, public policy, education and care.

Proceeds from the event also support Komen’s Patient Care Center, a trusted, go-to source for timely, accurate breast health and breast cancer information, support and resources, as well as the work of Komen’s Center for Public Policy, which drives state and federal policies that ensure everyone can access the high-quality care they require.

In the U.S., breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women and 1 in 1,000 men in their lifetime. In 2026 alone, more than 320,000 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and nearly 43,000 women will die. Approximately 2,670 men in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 530 will die from it. However, some experts say one-third of breast cancer deaths in the U.S. could be prevented with universal access to modern treatments.

In Minnesota, approximately 5,670 will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 640 will die from the disease this year. Susan G. Komen provides direct support to people in Minnesota through its Patient Care Center. In fiscal year 2025, Komen provided assistance to 199 patients, including $79,200 in financial assistance to eligible people in active treatment or living with metastatic breast cancer.

“Komen’s work is not possible without the generous support of people in the Minnesota community,” said Anne Pole, Director of Development at Susan G. Komen, Minnesota. “By uniting survivors, people in treatment today, those living with metastatic disease, friends and family members, we can all make a difference in our efforts to detect breast cancers early and improve treatments for all types of breast cancer. Come out and join us on Race Day/Walk Day, as we unite this community around Komen’s goal of creating a world where we do not lose another life to this disease.”

Bank of America is the national presenting sponsor, Natera is the national premier sponsor and Guardant Health, Novartis, and Lily are national series sponsors for the MORE THAN PINK Walk and Race for the Cure events.

This year’s Komen Minnesota Race for the Cure is made possible by the following local sponsors: Minneapolis Radiation Oncology, Great Clips, Minnesota Oncology, Allina Health, Gilead, Northland Ford, Astrin Biosciences, River Heights Outdoor Solutions, Rayus Radiology, United Healthcare, Alloy Personal Training, and JonnyPops.
