NRG Energy and Vivint Invest $500,000 to Support Transformation of Cobbs Creek Golf Course and Expand Youth Education

Partnership supports restoration of the historic Cobbs Creek Golf Course in West Philadelphia and youth opportunity at its on-site TGR Learning Lab

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NRG Energy Inc., a Fortune 200 energy and smart home company, today announced a partnership with the Cobbs Creek Foundation to support the revitalization and transformation of the Cobbs Creek Golf & Education Campus and expand youth and community opportunity in West Philadelphia.

The $500,000 investment from NRG and its smart home and security brand, Vivint, will support expanded programming while also advancing innovative approaches to more sustainable, efficient smart energy solutions. As part of this collaboration, the central gathering space within the Smilow Woodland TGR Learning Lab, operated by TGR Foundation, will be branded the “Vivint + NRG Hub,” serving as a dedicated area for connection, collaboration, and student programming.

As part of the collaboration, NRG will also introduce a long-drive competition benefiting local nonprofits and provide ongoing opportunities for its employees to volunteer and mentor students. LPGA Tour player Lauren Coughlin, the recent winner of the Grant Thornton Invitational, will host a putting clinic with local children at Cobbs Creek on April 10.
