Star One Credit Union Appoints Ryan Barringer as Executive Vice President of Operations

Barringer, previously vice president, now leads operational strategy and member experience initiatives for Star One

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Star One Credit Union, a not-for-profit financial institution based in Sunnyvale with locations throughout the South Bay area, more than 130,000 members, and assets exceeding $9.3 billion, today announced Ryan Barringer as its executive vice president of operations.

Barringer brings more than two decades of leadership experience in consumer and commercial banking, with expertise spanning financial marketing, customer experience, and digital strategy. Since joining Star One, he has played a pivotal role in the credit union’s growth and innovation, leading marketing and technological advancements that enhance member experience and streamline operations.

As executive vice president of operations, Barringer helps Star One modernize and simplify how it interacts with its members. Under his leadership, the operations team has introduced a suite of new payment innovations and digital banking solutions with an emphasis on fraud mitigation.

These products include the Paze digital wallet solution, which made Star One the first credit union to offer members a fast, convenient, and safe eCommerce experience, and the launch of Star One’s partnership with Illuma, a voice authentication platform that detects fraud signals in real time.

Barringer began working at Star One Credit Union in 2023, serving as the vice president of marketing before being promoted to executive vice president of operations. Before working at Star One, he held increasingly senior leadership roles throughout the financial industry, leading marketing, sales management, and customer experience for community credit unions and regional commercial banks. Most recently he was a senior director at Western Alliance Bank leading marketing for its Bridge Bank and Torrey Pines Bank west coast divisions, and before that CEFCU leading its regional marketing and business development team.

Barringer holds dual M.B.A.s from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, where he was awarded a fellowship in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute, and the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University, in addition to a B.S. from San José State University.
