Pivot Bio Silage Data Show Strong Tonnage and Milk Gains with PROVEN® 40 and PROVEN® G3
Two years of silage studies demonstrate increased tons, additional milk per acre and synthetic nitrogen replacement without sacrificing forage quality
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pivot Bio, one of the world’s leading innovative agtech companies, today released results from more than 90 corn silage studies conducted across two growing seasons demonstrating consistent performance from Pivot Bio PROVEN® 40 and PROVEN® G3 nitrogen solutions.
At the same time, Pivot Bio recently announced a new multiyear nitrogen price and supply assurance program designed to give growers and retailers greater certainty heading into the 2026 planting season and beyond. The program enables customers to lock in a consistent price and secure supply of Pivot Bio nitrogen solutions for the 2026, 2027 and 2028 growing seasons—helping mitigate volatility in conventional fertilizer markets while ensuring reliable access to in-season nitrogen.
The data highlight measurable gains in both tonnage and milk production potential when Pivot Bio’s products are integrated into modern corn silage fertility programs.
Across two seasons of commercial-scale studies, silage acres treated with PROVEN® 40 and PROVEN® G3 delivered:
- An average 0.91 ton-per-acre increase
- 954 additional pounds of milk per acre
-
Enhances forage quality metrics (NDFD and starch), delivering measurable gains in milk per acre
- The increase in NDFD30 digestibility increased milk production to provide approximately $69 per acre more value.
- Delivers 20–40 pounds of additional nitrogen as part of a complete nitrogen strategy, complementing existing programs such as manure.
That performance equates to nearly one additional ton per acre and nearly 1,000 pounds more milk per acre, reinforcing the agronomic and economic value growers are seeing in the field.
“These are the types of results we consistently witness when deployed with our best management practices. A consistent, root-associated source of nitrogen that integrates into modern fertility programs, delivering results beyond the field,” said Travis Frey, chief technology officer at Pivot Bio. “By building on the performance foundation of PROVEN 40 and advancing it with PROVEN G3, we’re helping silage growers drive more biomass, more milk per acre and stronger returns providing a precision placed nitrogen alternative to substitute into their traditional synthetic nitrogen programs.”
Silage performance is driven by two primary factors: total biomass and feed value. Pivot Bio products provide a plant-available source of nitrogen delivered directly at the root, where proprietary gene-edited microbes fix nitrogen continuously throughout the growing season. Because the nitrogen is produced at the root zone, it is protected from volatilization and leaching and remains available during early critical growth stages where end point potential is established.
“When you’re working with silage growers, you’re not just chasing grain, you’re selling the entire plant,” said Mark Hockel, forage agronomist, Richhart Consulting. “What I’ve seen with PROVEN G3 is stronger early growth and more robust plants during that V2 to V5 window, especially in high-residue or cool, wet conditions. For silage systems, that added biomass translates directly into more feed per acre without sacrificing quality. That’s where the real value shows up.”
Based on study averages, performance gains translated into meaningful per-acre value. Depending on local silage and milk markets, results equated to approximately $180 per acre in combined potential value, including contributions from both increased tonnage and additional milk production.
PROVEN® 40 established initial market validation for Pivot Bio’s nitrogen-fixing technology in corn. The company’s third-generation product, PROVEN® G3, available in liquid, seed treatment and dry planter box treatment formats, represents the next generation of nitrogen innovation, further advancing nutrient uptake and early biomass development across both grain and silage systems.
As silage growers finalize 2026 nitrogen programs, early-season nitrogen availability remains critical particularly in cool, wet springs, high-residue systems and manure acres where nitrogen mineralization can be delayed. The data reinforces the opportunity for growers to integrate Pivot Bio nitrogen solutions into their silage programs to strengthen resiliency and drive higher per-acre returns.
