Praesidium Earns PBSA® Accreditation, Strengthening Its Leadership in Abuse Prevention

ARLINGTON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--For nearly 35 years, Praesidium has helped organizations create safer environments for youth and vulnerable populations. As part of that commitment, Praesidium has achieved accreditation through the Professional Background Screening Association (PBSA®) Background Screening Credentialing Council (BSCC). After successfully demonstrating compliance with the Background Screening Organization Accreditation Program (BSOAP), Praesidium is now formally recognized as BSCC-Accredited to the U.S. Employment Screening Standard.

“Organizations that serve youth and vulnerable populations depend on strong safeguards to protect those in their care,” said Aaron Lundberg, President and CEO of Praesidium. “This accreditation affirms the rigor behind our screening practices and reflects our ongoing commitment to helping organizations build safer environments.”

For organizations responsible for protecting vulnerable populations, background screening is often one of the first safeguards in a broader prevention strategy. Ensuring these processes are conducted with accuracy, compliance, and operational rigor is essential to maintaining trust and reducing risk.

The PBSA Background Screening Organization Accreditation Program was established to create a consistent, industry-recognized standard for background screening providers. Accreditation through the BSCC validates that organizations meet or exceed established standards across key operational areas and demonstrate strong policies, procedures, and accountability practices.

To earn accreditation, organizations must complete a comprehensive desk audit of operational documentation followed by a rigorous virtual audit conducted by an independent third-party auditor. The review evaluates policies and procedures across six critical areas: Information Security, Legal and Compliance, Client Education, Researcher and Data Standards – Third Party Service Providers, Verification Services Standards, and Business Practices.

At Praesidium, background screening is one component of a comprehensive abuse prevention approach that also includes policies, training, monitoring, and organizational accountability. This integrated framework helps organizations strengthen safeguards, reduce risk, and better protect those in their care.

This recognition reinforces Praesidium’s commitment to maintaining rigorous screening practices while supporting organizations in building prevention systems grounded in accountability, trust, and care for vulnerable populations.
