Working Capital Partners Raises Series A to Scale Institutional Capital Platform for Elite Talent
New funding supports the platform with more than $2B in deal capital capacity for athletes, artists and entertainers
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Working Capital Partners (WCP), a structured capital platform for elite talent across sports, music and entertainment, today announced it has closed its Series A funding round, led by WTSL. WTSL is the investment firm founded by Patrick Whitesell and Jason Lublin that partners with visionary founders and pioneering businesses that are shaping the future of media, entertainment, and sports. The funding will support the continued growth of WCP, which has the capacity to deliver more than $2 billion in structured capital solutions, expanding access to liquidity for athletes, musicians and others who have contracted and predictable revenue streams.
WCP was founded by industry veterans Grady Gamble and Jesse Greenberg, and is led in partnership with Chris Koras, the firm’s Head of Sports, who brings deep expertise across professional athletics. The firm was built on a simple, but underserved truth: the world’s most elite talent generates enterprise-level, predictable revenue streams, but have no capital market solutions available to them to unlock their earnings and scale their wealth today without sacrificing control and flexibility. WCP is closing that gap by providing financing solutions tailored specifically for their unique needs, designed in partnership with the talent and their existing advisors to support long-term financial goals.
In sports, WCP is institutionalizing guaranteed player contracts as a financeable asset class, giving athletes access to capital markets tools that teams have long used to scale their businesses. Athletes can now bring forward the full value of their secured earnings and put capital to work from day one, rather than waiting years for their income to be realized.
In music, WCP has created an alternative to the catalog sale. Artists can access proceeds comparable to what they would net after taxes from a sale, while retaining 100% ownership of their catalog, and the freedom to sell on their own terms when the time is right.
“Historically, talent has had to choose between liquidity, flexibility and ownership,” said Jesse Greenberg, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Working Capital Partners. “We built WCP to change that dynamic. By introducing new financial structures to sports and entertainment, we’re creating a category of capital that gives talent access to liquidity today to unlock generational wealth, while protecting the assets that define their legacy.”
“Athletes are increasingly taking control of their careers and financial futures, and that shift requires a new kind of capital partner,” said Jason Lublin, President at WTSL. “We see WCP as the financial engine behind that evolution, bringing institutional capital and structure to a market that historically hasn’t had access to it.”
Alongside Greenberg, Gamble and Koras, the WCP team is led by industry experts with combined decades of experience in their respective fields. The platform is supported by a network of strategic advisors and partners across sports, entertainment and financial services, including WTSL, Pinnacle Bank, Sean Bailey, 1916 Enterprises, David Oxfeld and Steven Bornstein.
“WCP was built by people who have spent their careers working alongside athletes and artists,” said Grady Gamble, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Working Capital Partners. “Our team’s deep experience across the sectors we serve provides us with a one-of-a-kind perspective that shapes how we approach every client. This allows us to focus on our core goal: advocating for talent and providing capital solutions that support their long-term success, not just short-term liquidity.”
As WCP scales, the firm plans to expand its platform across additional areas of the entertainment and creator economy, bringing institutional-grade capital solutions to a broader universe of talent-driven businesses.
