Stringr Forms Genna as Independent AI Company and Expands Leadership Team

Co-Founders Lindsay Stewart and Brian McNeill Continue to Lead Strategy and Product Across Both Companies; Ron Stitt Appointed Stringr President and General Manager

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Stringr today announced the launch of Genna, a new AI company focused on helping media organizations create, manage, and distribute video more efficiently as newsrooms face increasing demand for video content and tighter production resources. Co-Founders Lindsay Stewart and Brian McNeill will continue to lead strategy and product across both Stringr and Genna.

“We believe that digital content transformation is one of the most thoughtful applications of AI available to media outlets and are pleased to have partnered with Genna to leverage their expertise in helping us bring our award-winning journalism to life in video,” said Grant Whitmore, VP, Ad Technology and Programmatic at Advance Local. “The results thus far have exceeded expectations, delivering tens of millions of video views on our own platforms in a very cost-effective manner while driving growth and engagement in our social channels. Altogether, this has expanded our reach, improved audience engagement, and diversified our revenue channels.”

Across the media industry, organizations are under pressure to produce more video with smaller teams and tighter budgets. Genna addresses these challenges through AI-powered automation that helps media teams move from footage to finished production faster.

“The demand for video in newsrooms has exploded, but the operations behind it haven’t caught up,” said Brian McNeill, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer. “Genna brings automation into the process so media organizations can move from raw footage to finished content at the scale modern media demands.”

Genna operates as an independent company focused on AI innovation, with technologies offered independently and through integrations with the Stringr platform.

“Genna gives us the ability to advance AI development while continuing to scale and strengthen the core Stringr platform and contributor marketplace,” said Lindsay Stewart, Co-Founder and CEO. “We are building both companies for long-term growth and ensuring our customers benefit from focused innovation and operational stability.”

As part of this next phase, Ron Stitt has been appointed President and General Manager of Stringr, overseeing day-to-day operations and revenue growth across the company’s videographer marketplace and video sourcing solutions. Stitt previously served as Vice President and General Manager of NewsON, formerly owned by Sinclair Properties, and held digital leadership roles at Fox Television Stations and ABC Owned Television Stations.

Stringr maintains one of the industry’s largest on-demand videographer networks, enabling customers to capture live and on-demand footage from virtually any location without deploying traditional crews. There are no changes to existing Stringr customer contracts, service models, or support teams.

About Genna

Genna is an AI platform that transforms trusted data into broadcast-ready video at scale. Developed by the team behind Stringr, Genna automatically converts structured and editorial data into video using verified media assets and newsroom workflows—rather than generating synthetic imagery. The platform integrates at the top of the content workflow, ingesting information from CMS systems, data feeds, and other sources to automate video creation and distribute content across owned properties and third-party platforms. This enables publishers and broadcasters to produce and distribute high-quality video quickly, consistently, and at lower cost. Genna’s technology is used by major media organizations including Reach, Advance Local, Hearst, and Gannett. Learn more at genna.com.
