Torrential rainfall and hurricane-force winds produced flooding, landslides and extensive property damage across the islands. Another Kona Low is expected to hit the Aloha State later this week.

Public access to self-storage units and portable storage containers is essential to communities preparing for natural disasters and recovering after they strike.

Don Chae, U-Haul Co. of Hawaii president, said his team is ready to help anyone affected by the storm who needs a dry and secure storage solution at no cost for one month.

U-Haul has five centers currently offering self-storage in Hawaii: three on Oahu, one on Maui, and one on the Big Island.

The disaster relief program applies to new self-storage and U-Box rentals and is based on availability at participating locations. The U-Box offer is for on-site storage at Company facilities; delivery is available for a modest fee. Call or stop by the nearest U-Haul store to take advantage of the 30 days free goodwill offer.
