OXOS Medical Unlocks Pediatric Imaging for MC2 Portable X-ray

Safe, simple, and smart imaging solutions designed for the smallest patients

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OXOS Medical® today announced that its MC2 portable X-ray system is now cleared for pediatric imaging, enabling providers to deliver quality, low-dose X-ray imaging to young patients.

Traditional imaging rooms can be intimidating for children(1) and stressful for parents(2). MC2 changes the dynamic by making the exam and imaging room one and the same, meeting young patients where they are comfortable, close to their loved ones.

"For decades, we’ve asked children to adapt to the machine, to hold still in scary rooms away from their parents. That’s backwards," said Evan Ruff, CEO of OXOS Medical. "Technology should adapt to the child. MC2 proves that you don't need an off-base, lead-lined bunker to get a clear, safe diagnosis."

The MC2’s expanded capabilities focus on three pillars of pediatric care:

  • Comfort-Driven Design: For a child, large imaging technology can be a source of anxiety. The MC2 is lightweight and wireless, allowing imaging to be done wherever it is comfortable. This portability is meant to reduce the fear, eliminate the need to separate children from their caregivers, and turn what could be an ordeal into a quick, simple scan.
  • Hands-On Versatility: Pediatric orthopedics requires a gentle touch. The MC2 allows surgeons to utilize the Wireless Foot Pedal for hands-free operation, giving them the freedom to use both hands to support a child’s limb or comfort them during the exam. Whether handheld or mounted on the Clinical Cart, the system adapts to the patient, not the other way around.
  • Protection for Growing Bodies: Children are more sensitive to radiation, making dose control critical(3). The MC2 features an automatic collimator that instantly limits the X-ray beam to the area of interest, along with manual collimation pucks and a pediatric filter for fine-tuning. This ensures high-definition clarity for small anatomy while minimizing exposure to developing bodies.

“Radiation exposure is a major concern in pediatric imaging, and it’s something I focus on intently for both my younger patients and my children,” said Dr. Gregory Kolovich, Chief Medical Officer and OXOS co-founder. “MC2 emits low dose while providing the flexibility surgeons need during exams.”
