Engine Officially Launches New Corporate Card – Offering Up to 10% Rewards on Business Travel

Following a 700-company waitlist, Engine's first corporate card is now widely available, bringing enterprise-level travel rewards to SMBs and their employees

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Engine, the modern platform reshaping business and group travel, today announced the official launch of Engine X, the company’s first corporate card. Engine X is built for small and mid-sized businesses (“SMBs”) that have traditionally been underserved by traditional banks and fintechs. The newly launched card addresses a significant gap in the market: only an estimated 28% of SMBs with less than $10M in annual revenue have access to corporate cards.

Engine X closes this gap for SMBs, delivering the flexibility that small and mid-sized businesses need, while saving them time and money. Key features include:

  • Best-in-class travel rewards, no annual fees. Engine X delivers up to 10% rewards on travel booked through Engine's platform and 1.5% on all other purchases1, all without annual membership fees. Customers can ‘double dip’ and earn hotel and airline loyalty points through the Engine platform in addition to earning Engine Rewards.
  • Intelligent spend controls. Engine X integrates with company travel policies, allowing businesses to set daily spend limits, approved spending categories, and merchant restrictions. For businesses, this means controlling spend before it occurs, and for employees, this means eliminating the need for manual expense reporting.
  • Unmatched flexibility with virtual or physical cards. Engine X enables SMBs to issue both physical and instant virtual cards to employees, including temporary virtual cards for 1099 contractors, such as construction workers or disaster relief responders.
  • Real-time visibility and AI-powered insights. Get visibility into business spend as soon as a card is swiped, compare spend trends over time, and (coming soon) get AI recommendations on how you can spend smarter.

Engine X was designed specifically for small businesses and their employees. With the line of credit available through Engine X, travelers no longer need to front personal funds for business expenses. According to a February 2026 Harris Poll survey on behalf of Engine,2 59% of business travelers have used personal funds upfront for business travel costs. Among those, half report not always being reimbursed, with the largest unreimbursed expense averaging $1,300. Employees are also wasting valuable time on expense reporting, with nearly one-in-five business travelers (18%) spending 5+ hours reporting expenses for a recent trip.

When asked what they value most in a corporate card, workers cited avoiding out-of-pocket expenses (46%), earning rewards and points (38%), built-in travel protection (38%), and simplified expense reconciliation and reporting (37%). Engine X delivers these benefits by eliminating out-of-pocket spending, offering competitive travel rewards, and automating expense reporting.

Engine is already trusted by over 1 million travelers and tens of thousands of businesses to help them save money and time on travel. In 2025, Engine customers saved a total of $318 million on travel spending. The launch of Engine X marks Engine’s expansion into corporate payments, bringing travel booking and spend management into a single platform purpose-built for SMBs. By combining flexible travel booking with a corporate card for easier spend management, Engine is creating an integrated solution that gives growing businesses financial control and visibility typically available only to enterprise customers. Engine X will enable customers to save even more while also bringing them modern tools and insights to help grow and scale their business.

"Modern businesses move too fast for manual reconciliation and out-of-pocket expenses,” said Elia Wallen, Founder and CEO of Engine. “We built Engine X to be the command center for company spend, from travel to daily operations. With customizable spend controls and instant visibility into every transaction, we’re providing SMBs with a powerful tool that pairs sophisticated management software with one of the most rewarding business cards on the market."
