Organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA)—Taiwan’s leading trade promotion organization—and supported by the International Trade Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan (TITA), under the theme “From Taiwan with Care: Evolving the Future of Healthcare,” the event marked Taiwan Excellence’s first-ever appearance at HIMSS, one of the world’s largest healthcare technology conferences, estimated to draw more than 25,000 attendees and 1,000 exhibitors. At a time when many U.S. healthcare AI initiatives remain in pilot purgatory, the event spotlighted Taiwanese technologies engineered for real-world implementation and built for health systems ready to move beyond proof-of-concepts.
To mark the debut of the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion, VIP guests placed their hands on illuminated launch cubes, simultaneously activating a symbolic “start button” inspired by the event’s key visual. The cubes glowed in pulsating blue, white, and red—echoing the colors of the U.S. and Taiwanese flags—and underscored a shared commitment to cross-border healthcare innovation. In a dramatic moment, the VIPs simultaneously activated the Pavilion, signaling Taiwan’s readiness to help scale trustworthy, human-centered digital health solutions worldwide.
“Taiwan’s presence at HIMSS comes at a meaningful moment,” said Michael Liou, Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles. “U.S.–Taiwan healthcare technology collaboration continues to strengthen, backed by annual medical device trade exceeding US$2.3 billion. This year marks Taiwan Excellence’s first pavilion at the show, and we are here with a shared message: the future of healthcare must remain human-centered, AI-enabled, and grounded in trust.”
The event also featured remarks from Yolanda Pi, Director, Taiwan Trade Center, Los Angeles; and Dr. Wui-Chiang Lee, Vice Superintendent of the Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Taiwan’s top-ranked medical institution.
A delegation from Taipei Veterans General Hospital also attended the event. The hospital recently achieved HIMSS Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM) Stage 7 validation—a testament to its leadership in fully digital, data-driven care delivery and its alignment with the advanced health IT solutions showcased at the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion.
The “From Taiwan with Care: Evolving the Future of Healthcare” product launch event at HIMSS fostered dynamic exchanges among international healthcare leaders, emphasizing Taiwan’s role in shaping a more efficient, human-centered, and data-driven era of healthcare.
