Audiochuck Launches TV and Film Division with New Executive Hire

The leading true crime studio expands its premium video and intellectual property footprint with a newly formed division helmed by industry veteran Matt Shanfield

INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Audiochuck, the award-winning true crime media company founded by Ashley Flowers, has officially launched its TV and Film division, including new hire, Head of Television and Film, Matt Shanfield. This marks the media company’s evolution into a vertically integrated studio, which will acquire and develop premium intellectual property while also adapting Audiochuck’s leading podcast franchises for global streaming audiences.

“Audiochuck has built one of the strongest franchise engines in podcasting,” said Matt Starker, CEO of Audiochuck. “TV and film are the next step. We are adapting, developing and acquiring premium IP for global platforms, delivering it with the same discipline and storytelling standards that define our work.”

In addition to Audiochuck’s own roster of IP, the media company will also focus on developing new and acquiring third-party content that resonates with its audience on screen.

Newly appointed industry veteran Matt Shanfield will lead the company’s TV and Film division. He joins Audiochuck from Sony Pictures Television's Nonfiction group, where he served as Executive Vice President of Development at The Intellectual Property Corporation, acquired by Sony four years ago. Throughout his career, Shanfield has established himself as a creative force in premium nonfiction content across multiple genres, and he will bridge the gap between Audiochuck’s massive library of existing IP and the global streaming landscape. Leveraging a track record of executive producing hits like the Critics' Choice-winning Secrets of Playboy, developing the upcoming Netflix nonfiction series CLUE, and producing the Emmy-winning Shark Tank, he will also spearhead Audiochuck’s acquisition of high-impact external projects.

"Audiochuck has cultivated a level of audience loyalty that is unparalleled in the industry," said Matt Shanfield. "The opportunity to build a sustainable, in-house screen content division from such a rich well of IP is a dream scenario. We aren't just adapting podcasts; we are building a premium production ecosystem that honors authentic storytelling while dominating the global media landscape."

With a footprint that now spans audio, digital video, and premium television, Audiochuck is positioned as a dominant force in the current media landscape. By aligning with industry leaders like Tubi Media Group and securing top-tier executive talent, the company is ensuring its storytelling reaches audiences wherever they consume content, anchored by a vertically integrated studio infrastructure designed for long-term, multi-platform IP expansion.
