Suffolk Taps Industry Veteran Louis Martinelli to Scale Its Freedom Source Supply Chain Vertical and Reinforce Its Seamless Platform Delivery

The strategic hiring accelerates Suffolk’s end-to-end procurement model, increasing client certainty around cost, schedule and supply reliability

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Suffolk, one of the most innovative and successful builders in the country, today announced Louis Martinelli’s hiring as Head of Freedom Source, the company’s direct-to-manufacturer procurement engine designed to increase cost transparency and competitive pricing, improve supply reliability, and streamline the design-to-construction workflow for clients. He will report directly to Pat Lucey, President of Suffolk Northeast and National Centers of Excellence.

In his new role, Martinelli will oversee Freedom Source’s national growth strategy, deepen supplier and manufacturer relationships, expand market penetration in high-demand sectors and drive integration with Suffolk’s National Centers of Excellence and across the enterprise.

“Suffolk’s ability to work directly with manufacturers and give clients true clarity into cost and lead-time risk is a gamechanger,” said Martinelli. “Freedom Source represents one of the most integrated supply chain models in the industry and I’m excited to join Suffolk to deepen global supplier relationships and deliver greater predictability and value for our client partners throughout the country. This industry is in need of innovation and Freedom Source will deliver it.”

Mr. Martinelli brings more than two decades of experience in supply chain strategy, working with vendors and manufacturers, as well as capital project management and delivery, long-lead equipment planning and procurement for complex building. Most recently, he served as Regional Business Manager and Client Direct Account Executive at SourceBlue, where he successfully scaled annual revenue and developed strategies adopted nationally across the enterprise. He previously spent 15 years at Trane Technologies delivering engineered-to-order systems for major commercial, healthcare, aviation, pharmaceutical and industrial projects.

“Louis has a deep understanding of how procurement decisions shape project outcomes and his strategic hire is a major step in elevating Freedom Source as a national differentiator for Suffolk as we advance our vision to redefine how America builds,” said Lucey.

As Suffolk’s end-to-end procurement and supply chain solution, Freedom Source works directly with manufacturers and distributors to provide clients with greater visibility into material costs, competitive pricing, preferred fabrication slots and early integration with design teams to support smarter material selection and value engineering. The innovative model reduces intermediaries, shortens lead times, and results in more predictable delivery outcomes, driving speed and certainty throughout the entire project lifecycle.
