Rently Unveils Major Q1 2026 Product Enhancements, Setting a New Standard for Renter Experience

New enhancements support fee transparency, frictionless touring, and smart living

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rently, the resident lifecycle management platform designed for single-family and multifamily operators, today announced Q1 2026 product updates designed to remove friction for renters and leasing teams. Updates include enhanced fee transparency through “Costs & Fees,” new AI leasing support through Rently Intelligence, and TourPass, a proximity-based smart lock feature that streamlines access for self-guided tours, and reveals valuable smart apartment trends. The enhancements address the needs of today’s renters, who are more informed, more selective and increasingly mobile.

“Costs & Fees” Emphasizes Commitment to Fee Transparency

Rently has introduced updated listing designs that now display Monthly Rent inclusive of all mandatory and miscellaneous fees. Renters can now easily click on "Costs & Fees" to see a full, itemized breakdown, helping them understand the true cost of their rental property upfront. This change is designed to eliminate hidden fees, build trust and reduce financial strain for prospective residents.

Rently Intelligence Supports Search and Property Touring

To meet the high demand for digital convenience—with 89% of prospective renters using Internet Listing Services (ILS) to search and tour available properties—Rently introduced Rently Intelligence, an AI-powered leasing assistant that enables renters to search listings on homes.rently.com and schedule tours using natural language via chat and text. It also saves leasing agents valuable time by automatically nurturing leads and responding to routine inquiries.

Rently TourPass & Simplified Time Slots Streamline Self-Guided Touring

Rently’s self-guided tours have long helped prospects tour on their own time without coordinating with a leasing agent. Now, with TourPass, Rently adds proximity-based auto-unlock for connected smart locks and simplified tour time slots to make it easier for renters to schedule their tours based on the property’s available hours:

  • Rently's patented self-guided tours now include TourPass for frictionless touring. This feature automatically unlocks a connected Rently smart lock when the prospective renter is near the unit.
  • This process reduces a common drop-off point during tours by removing steps that involve verifying location, entering a lock serial number and entering an unlock code.
  • Rently's data shows that 83% of prospective renters prefer self-guided tours, and 53% prefer touring outside of regular business hours, making convenience a key differentiator.
  • Property managers can also take advantage of Rently’s new 15-minute simplified tour timeslot system to control how and when renters book property tours. It automatically figures out which time slots to show a prospective renter based on the property's open hours, existing bookings and a handful of configurable settings.

"These updates are a direct response to an evolving rental market, where value means transparency, convenience and technology that meets expectations," said Merrick Lackner, CEO at Rently. "By removing friction and providing the modern features renters expect, we are helping property managers lease faster and support a better experience for every prospective resident."

Rently Smart Home Increases Revenue, Reduces OpEx and Boosts Property Values

In line with modern renter expectations, Rently is emphasizing the growing importance of smart home technology. Recent data from the Smart Apartment Trends Report states that renters prioritize functional, modern homes: 65% indicate it makes properties more attractive, 77% would sign a longer lease if smart security and energy-saving devices were included, and 65% are willing to pay extra for them.

Rently’s complete line of smart home technology provides a competitive edge for property managers, boosting resident satisfaction, with satisfaction rates in smart-home communities reaching 83% to 91%, and supporting rent growth, as many communities charge a tech-amenity fee averaging $75 to $100 more per month. It also helps streamline operations and drive cost savings for property owners.
