OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Black & Veatch, a global engineering, procurement, consulting and construction company focused on human critical infrastructure, announced today that Gregory Lewis has joined the company as chief strategy officer (CSO).
In this role, Lewis will lead Black & Veatch’s enterprise-wide strategy function, driving the development and execution of long-term growth strategies across the company’s sectors, solutions and regions. He will work closely with executive leadership to strengthen strategic planning, portfolio optimization, innovation and mergers and acquisitions, supporting the company’s continued focus on sustainable, profitable growth.
Lewis brings more than 20 years of experience spanning corporate strategy, management consulting, mergers and acquisitions, and operational leadership across the energy, utilities, industrials and chemicals sectors. He has a proven track record of translating strategy into execution, driving growth, improving profitability and leading complex organizational transformations.
“Greg brings a proven combination of strategic rigor, industry depth and hands-on leadership experience,” said Mario Azar, chairman and chief executive officer of Black & Veatch. “His background in enterprise strategy, M&A and operational execution will be instrumental as we continue to evolve our portfolio and help clients address increasingly complex challenges across energy, water, data centers, advanced manufacturing and government infrastructure.”
Prior to joining Black & Veatch, Lewis served as an independent strategy consultant advising clients across industrial, energy and chemical industries. Previously, he held senior strategy and business development leadership roles at Eastman Chemical Company, where he directed enterprise strategic planning, supported M&A activities and helped drive significant earnings growth through strategic pricing, portfolio optimization and new platform development.
Earlier in his career, Lewis served as North American Head of Strategy and M&A for Philips Lighting (now Signify), leading strategic planning, portfolio strategy and acquisition activity across connected lighting and smart city solutions. He also spent several years with Strategy& in its Utility and Power consulting practice, advising major North American utilities on growth strategy, M&A, integration and operational transformation.
Lewis began his career in nuclear power engineering, holding leadership roles at Northrop Grumman Newport News, where he supervised engineering teams supporting U.S. Navy nuclear aircraft carrier programs.
He holds an MBA from Cornell University, a Master of Engineering Management from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University.
“I am excited to join Black & Veatch at a pivotal time for the company and the industries it serves,” Lewis said. “The firm’s employee-owned culture, technical depth and global reach create a powerful platform for growth and innovation. I look forward to partnering with the leadership team to help shape the company’s long-term strategy and deliver meaningful value for clients and employee-owners.”
