Western Window Systems’ Window and Door Products Selected for Trina Turk’s Renovation of Midcentury Modern Palm Springs Home

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Western Window Systems, part of the MITER Brands portfolio, was the window and door brand chosen to sponsor and provide products for designer Trina Turk’s renovation of “Soleil House.” The neglected midcentury modern home, located in the Cahuilla Hills at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains in Palm Springs, CA, underwent significant renovations while preserving its original footprint and architectural character.

A part-time Palm Springs resident, Turk aimed to maintain the home’s midcentury modern aesthetic. The design required expansive window and door solutions that would maximize natural light and preserve the home’s uninterrupted 180-degree views from Andreas Hills to the Chocolate Mountains across the Coachella Valley.

The design team selected Western Window Systems’ Vantage Line aluminum windows and Series 300 Minimalist Multi-Slide Doors. The large-format windows emphasize vertical sightlines, making outdoor spaces and scenery feel like part of the interior. Slim frames further enhance the modern style while maintaining structural integrity.

In her YouTube series following renovations on the home, Trina Turk noted the importance of an indoor-outdoor connection, achieved through walls of glass or sliding doors that open onto a porch or patio, blurring the line between interior and exterior space.

Western Window Systems’ Series 300 Minimalist Multi-Slide Doors were installed in two- and three-panel configurations. Slim interlock sightlines and large openings maximize daylight while their hardware and flush sills ensure smooth, durable operation and seamless transitions between spaces.

Product performance was also critical for the Palm Springs environment. The windows’ thermally broken aluminum frames create an insulating barrier, while dual-pane, low-E glazing supports U-factor performance that meets California Title 24 energy standards.

The event highlights the region’s signature Desert Modernism, a subgenre of midcentury modern architecture defined by clean lines, indoor-outdoor living, flat roofs, and expansive glass that blurs the boundaries between inside and out. Tours for the home are sold out during Modernism Week, but opportunities to visit continue every Saturday through the end of March.
