“Our goal is to ensure that every Illinoisan has the resources they need to achieve their best health, and we can’t do that alone,” said Samantha Olds Frey, President, Humana – Illinois. “Success requires collaboration, and we are grateful to work together with HFS and our non-profit partners to build healthy communities across the state.”

This investment builds on previous grants aimed at addressing urgent needs such as food and housing instability, bringing Humana’s total commitment to more than $3 million. 2026 grant recipients include:

  1. Brightpoint: Schubert Family Wellness Center + Behavioral Health & Wellness Consultant: Located at Schubert Elementary in Chicago’s Belmont Cragin neighborhood, The Family Wellness Center embeds a school-based hub for behavioral health, family supports, and wraparound care, and other prevention-based services, meeting children and families where they are.
  2. Illinois Public Health Association: Supporting the Forward 4 Families Hub, which will build a statewide Community Health Worker (CHW) infrastructure focused on maternal and child health, embedding CHWs in high-disparity counties to navigate prenatal care, postpartum coverage, and social needs.
  3. Illinois Rural Health Association: Addresses the shortage of dentists in rural Illinois by funding five dental scholarships at Southern Illinois University. Scholarships are awarded to students who plan to practice in a rural, medically underserved area.
