Athena Security Launches Weapons Detection Support Center to Proactively Diagnose and Resolve System Issues in Real Time

The new built-in, offline system detects, diagnoses, and resolves issues without a support ticket.

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Athena Security today announced the launch of its AI-enabled Weapons Detection Support Center, a built-in operational capability that proactively identifies, diagnoses, and resolves system issues before they impact safety–even offline.

“Our systems are designed to detect potential issues immediately, attempt automated recovery instantly, and ensure operations continue without disruption.” – Lisa Falzone, Co-founder and President of Athena Security.

The new support center continuously monitors an organization’s weapons detection system and uses self-healing technology for common operational and connectivity issues in real time. This advancement helps eliminate the need for an organization to manually create support tickets or troubleshoot critical security infrastructure. When automated resolution is not possible, the system instantly generates and routes a ticket directly to the Athena team for immediate action.

“This is not a reactive help desk,” says Lisa Falzone, co-founder and President of Athena Security. “Our systems are designed to detect potential issues immediately, attempt automated recovery instantly, and ensure operations continue without disruption.”

Resiliency and Offline Operation

In the event of a network, database, or cloud connectivity disruption, Athena’s systems are designed to continue operating locally without interruption. If connectivity to a central system is lost, Athena’s platform automatically switches to a fully functional offline mode, with critical data cached locally on edge devices such as iPads until connectivity is restored. This ensures officers and staff are not distracted or disrupted during active security screening.

An organization can access real-time system status and historical performance data at any time, ensuring full transparency into system health and uptime.

The Future of Security: Systems That Heal Themselves

This shift from reactive monitoring to proactive remediation is the foundation of a self-healing system. It does not eliminate the need for human oversight, but it significantly reduces the need for manual intervention in common failure scenarios. Forbes describes the evolution toward self-healing systems as essential, noting that “today’s platforms must be able to predict failures, understand root causes, and automatically trigger corrective actions” in order to reliably operate at scale.

If an issue cannot be automatically resolved, Athena Security’s operations team is alerted instantly and proactively contacts the client to coordinate resolution—without waiting for a support request.

Core features of the Weapons Detection Support Center:

  • Continuous real-time monitoring of system health and connectivity
  • Built-in offline mode with automatic local failover
  • Automated self-healing for common operational and configuration issues
  • Local data caching and post-recovery synchronization
  • AI-generated incident tickets when human intervention is required
  • Direct escalation to customer SOC or operations teams

“If a system goes offline, our systems stay online,” says Chris Ciabarra, co-founder and CTO of Athena Security. “And if there’s a potential issue with a system, we automate diagnosis and repair in real-time. We don’t wait for a call.”

The Weapons Detection Support Center is now live across Athena’s customer base and the feature is standard for all new customers.
