Porter Airlines Celebrates More Sun From Ottawa With Service to Miami and Phoenix

OTTAWA, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Porter Airlines is bringing a warming trend to 2026 with inaugural flights to Miami (MIA) and Phoenix (PHX) from Ottawa International Airport (YOW). These represent the only nonstop service from YOW to MIA and PHX.

Miami service began on Jan. 24, with three weekly flights. The popular destination adds to Ottawa’s growing list of Florida markets, including Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando and Tampa. Phoenix flights also operate three times weekly, beginning Feb. 7.

Both new routes provide greater international and cross-border connectivity for onward travel by two significant hubs for Porter’s codeshare partner, American Airlines. In Phoenix, this opens up 36 additional destinations in the Western U.S. operated by American Airlines and its affiliates, including Tucson, Honolulu, Kahului, and San Diego, and offering easy connections to many popular cities.

“The ongoing addition of nonstop routes from YOW reflects Porter’s commitment to Ottawa-Gatineau," said Andrew Pierce, vice president, network planning and reporting, Porter Airlines. “Canadians want to escape winter and these in-demand routes provide more options and more sun for the region.”

This winter, Porter is offering more flights from YOW than any other carrier, serving 26 non-stop routes. The following are flight schedules for Miami and Phoenix:

“Porter Airlines’ latest YOW service expansion adds nonstop flights to Miami and Phoenix, responding to strong passenger demand for warm‑weather travel. These routes further strengthen our connectivity to the U.S. Southwest and open valuable opportunities for our region. - Joel Tkach, Vice President, Business Development and Marketing, Ottawa International Airport Authority

“I am thrilled that Porter Airlines has enlarged its presence at MIA by re-establishing nonstop air service between Miami-Dade County and Canada’s capital city, which hasn’t existed since early 2020. Ottawa is also now MIA’s fourth Canadian destination, creating another nonstop option between our community and our neighbors to the north. Thanks to Porter’s three new weekly flights from Ottawa, we look forward to welcoming more visitors from Canada and to expanding one of our top international travel markets, which is already responsible for more than 700,000 MIA passengers annually.”
- Daniella Levine Cava, Mayor, Miami-Dade County

“The launch of seasonal nonstop service to Ottawa is another great addition to our route map and represents the first time our two cities have been connected by air. The service will offer Phoenicians a new, easy option to experience Canada’s capital and also bring new visitors to our beautiful state.”
