BNSF Railway Surpasses Own Industry-Leading Safety Records in 2025

Last year safest in company history; injury-frequency down 10%, rail-equipment incidents down 13%

FORT WORTH, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BNSF Railway, one of North America’s leading freight transportation companies, announced today its safety results for 2025, reporting the best year ever in the company’s 177-year history.

BNSF, comprised of approximately 35,000 employees, operated its 32,500-mile network with its lowest ever employee injury frequency rate, 10 percent lower than its previous record year in 2023.

The company also had a 13 percent decrease in rail equipment incidents, surpassing the Class I railroad’s target for 2025 and continuing to lead the industry, as it has over the past decade.
