McGraw Hill Expands Literacy Franchise with Launch of New Core English Language Arts Curriculum for Grades 6-12

Summit! for grades 6-8 and Soar! for grades 9-12 are grounded in research and offer a digital experience powered by data-driven insights to personalize learning

COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--McGraw Hill, Inc. (NYSE: MH) (“McGraw Hill”), a leading global provider of education solutions for preK-12, higher education, and professional learning, announced today the launch of its new core English Language Arts curriculum for 6th through 12th grades.

Summit! for grades 6-8 and Soar! for grades 9-12 build on the previously announced Emerge! for K-5 to establish a comprehensive research-based literacy program that delivers a personalized experience for teachers and students from kindergarten through high school.

“With the launch of Summit! and Soar!, school districts now have access to a cohesive literacy program that evolves to meet each student’s unique needs across K-12,” said Sean Ryan, President of McGraw Hill’s School Group. “By providing seamless continuity, we’re helping teachers create a consistent and personalized pathway for their students to gain the reading, writing, and critical thinking skills needed to succeed in the classroom and beyond. We’re excited for the opportunity to bring this curriculum to classrooms nationwide to aid educators’ efforts to positively impact the lives of millions of students for years to come.”

Embedded with data-driven personalization

Summit! and Soar! use data-driven personalization to help educators tailor instruction throughout the learning journey. The integration of the Standards and Skills Proficiency Graph combines connected assessments and actionable insights to create unique learner profiles that provide real-time visibility into student progress and personalized recommendations based on individual needs and strengths.

Additionally, Summit! and Soar! will feature an interactive digital writing experience that integrates the foundation of Essaypop, which McGraw Hill acquired in 2025, with the GenAI capabilities of Writing Assistant to support educators by delivering recommendations for personalized writing feedback to help students improve their writing skills over time.

Teacher Assistant is another embedded GenAI feature in Summit! and Soar! that will further enhance personalization and help educators save valuable classroom time by responsibly leveraging student data to identify instructional resources, efficiently differentiate instruction, inform planning, and optimize learning outcomes.

Building essential literacy skills

Summit! and Soar! incorporate a variety of rich and relevant texts appropriate for each grade level, encompassing a range of genres, time periods, cultures, and perspectives to support students’ academic success.

Rooted in the Science of Literacy, each lesson cultivates the interrelated skills of reading, writing, and knowledge building, progressing middle and high school students toward deeper understanding while supporting students in building greater self-efficacy.

Through consistent support across grade levels, students build the capacity for critical text analysis including interpretation of an author’s style, purpose, themes, and other key elements.

Summit! and Soar! intentionally foster a strong sense of belonging and self-efficacy to help students feel valued, connected, and engaged in their learning journey,” said Dr. Matt Strader, Director of Academic Design for 6-12 Literacy at McGraw Hill. “By offering motivating, research-based approaches to literacy instruction that nurture curiosity, agency, and active participation, the programs inspire critical thinking and help students develop the essential skills for academic and personal growth.”

Summit! and Soar! will be available to school districts nationwide starting in the 2026-27 school year. Samples and digital course demos are now available.
