Ten Ten Ten: A New National Effort Calls for Better Health, Lower Costs, and Accountability

PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--With average premium increases of 6 to 9% for employer-sponsored health plans and 21% for millions of Americans in the ACA Marketplace, pressure is mounting on families and employers. U.S. health outcomes also continue to lag those of peer countries.

Healthcare veterans T.J. Tedesco and Dr. Bhargav Raman today announced the national launch of Ten Ten Ten, a new nonprofit created to make progress measurable by improving outcomes and bringing U.S. healthcare spending back to sustainable levels.

The organization’s name reflects its North Star goal: Top Ten outcomes, Ten Percent of GDP spent on healthcare, achieved within Ten Years.

Among the 183 countries tracked by Ten Ten Ten, the United States ranks 48th in health outcomes and 182nd in healthcare spending as a share of GDP at 18.5%, the second highest in the world.

“Americans pay more than peer nations for healthcare, yet too many families face worse outcomes, confusing care, and egregious financial harm,” said T.J. Tedesco, Cofounder and Executive Director of Ten Ten Ten. “We can do better by measuring what matters. Ten Ten Ten exists to make progress visible, spotlight what works, and help employers, policymakers, and communities demand better results.”

Bhargav Raman, MD, Cofounder and Clinical and Analytics Lead, added: “Healthcare should follow evidence, not habit or hype. We follow what the data shows across outcomes and total cost of care. When something works, we help scale it. When it does not, we say so clearly and move on.”

Ten Ten Ten will advance its mission through four core initiatives:

  • The Index: an open, public scorecard tracking outcomes, cost, and equity
  • The Pledge: a simple statement anyone can sign to demand better outcomes and sustainable spending
  • Certification Program: evidence-based standards recognizing solutions and policies that deliver measurable value
  • Partnerships: collaborations that apply measurement and standards in purchasing, policy, and care delivery

Ten Ten Ten is nonpartisan and focused on unity. Better outcomes and lower costs are neither Red nor Blue goals; they are American goals. Ten Ten Ten follows the data, elevates what works, and holds the system accountable to results most people agree on: longer, healthier lives at a sustainable cost.

The public is invited to sign the Ten Ten Ten Pledge at https://tententen.org/sign-the-pledge.
