Open Letter to Indian PM Honorable Narendra Modi: Kitsault Energy Proposes Partnership Addressing India’s Energy and Environmental Challenges

NEW DELHI, India--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dr. Krishnan Suthanthiran, an Indian-born engineer, innovator, and philanthropist, proposes a strategic partnership between India and Kitsault Energy (KE) to help address India’s long-term energy security and environmental challenges.

Through a partnership with Kitsault Energy, India could save billions of dollars annually on energy imports while dramatically improving air quality and environmental outcomes.

His professional journey has been shaped by a deeply personal experience: the loss of his father to colon cancer in 1968. This led to a 60-year commitment to advancing medicine and oncology to reduce the suffering of patients and families worldwide.

In 2015, Suthanthiran launched the Global War on Cancer. As part of this initiative, he is developing Best Cure Pro Health Centers focused on proactive, preventive, primary, medical, dental, and eye care, along with Best Cure Cancer and Medical Centers. These facilities will operate 24/7 as non-profit institutions. Plans are underway to open the first center in Coimbatore next year.

Over the past 13 years, Suthanthiran has engaged with Indian energy organizations, including ONGC, Petronet, GAIL, and Indian Oil, to explore solutions to India’s energy and environmental needs. Despite multiple discussions, progress has been limited. In 2016, he presented the KE proposal to Indian Oil leadership and India’s Energy Minister at an international energy summit in Vancouver. At the time, Indian Oil had committed to the Petronas LNG pipeline project, which was later canceled due to opposition and engineering challenges, resulting in losses approaching USD 500 million.

KE is a midstream energy project involving dual pipelines to transport crude oil and natural gas to Observatory Inlet in British Columbia, near Suthanthiran’s privately owned town of Kitsault. The natural gas would be used to produce butanol, a cleaner alternative fuel that could reduce automobile pollution by 60% or more. Unlike LNG or CNG, butanol can be transported using existing infrastructure at room temperature, significantly lowering costs. It is widely used in Russia as a high-octane, affordable fuel.

Canada’s vast energy resources remain constrained by limited export routes, almost all shipped to the U.S. The proposed Kitsault port and terminal would provide India direct access to Canadian energy supplies via the Pacific.

Through a partnership with Kitsault Energy, India could save billions of dollars annually on energy imports while dramatically improving air quality and environmental outcomes.
