Shenandoah Veterinary Associates Hospital Opens as a Local Pet Emergency Room Serving Roanoke and Southwestern Virginia

ROANOKE, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pet owners in Roanoke and surrounding communities now have access to a uniquely modern, independently owned veterinary emergency hospital right in their own backyard. Shenandoah Veterinary Associates has officially opened its doors, providing urgent and emergency veterinary care in a newly renovated 16,000-square-foot facility.

Founded by seasoned veterinarians and husband-and-wife team Dr. Mike Van Horn and Dr. Kristina (“Keena”) Van Horn, Shenandoah Veterinary Associates was created to bring advanced clinical expertise and innovative emergency care to an underserved region of Virginia. The hospital is located at 5375 Fallowater Lane in Roanoke.

Initially, the hospital will be open Monday through Friday from 6:00 p.m. to midnight, and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with plans to expand to 24/7 care in the near future. Patients admitted to the hospital will receive continuous monitoring and treatment, including emergency surgery, delivered by a dedicated team of veterinarians and skilled veterinary technicians.

As the hospital grows, Shenandoah Veterinary Associates plans to expand its offerings to include board-certified veterinary specialists in surgery, internal medicine, radiology, cardiology, and additional disciplines. Construction is currently underway on additional space designed to house the sophisticated equipment required for advanced specialty care.
